This. If 5.5 had cleaned up the rules issues and added masteries etc as optional systems, then I would have been happy. 2e really allowed you do customize each campaign.

I am the DM. None of them want the role so if I do not run, then they do not play. They also trust me to pick something they would enjoy.

I backed Cosmere but never see myself running or playing it. I like the novels but fail to see the appeal in adventuring in the setting.
