It may say a lot about that folks complaining view the accent negatively.

D&D General Did 5e 2024 Not meet the economic goals set, and if not, why not?

Sure. I am playing it now and have a different opinion. It is not an improvement. I know folks who disagree but the level of mixed reaction to 5.5 is not a good thing.

Agreed on the animated series. Superman is my favorite character in DC. None of the live action stuff has surpassed any of the Batman: TAS, Superman: TAS, Batman Beyond, Justice League series. I also love Smallville. I really enjoyed this movie and you could see Gunn pick up some of the...

Hoult was good as Lex; however, he was not at the same level as Michael Rosenbaum or Clancy Brown. Gunn did a great job of writing Lex as he was always meant to be written. A genius that was envious and frightened of Superman and wanted to be the greatest human that ever lived. Rachel Brosnahan...

My son and I saw it earlier and loved it. It is a solid 8/8.5. It had heart and I was so happy to be done with the Snyder grim & gritty nonsense.

What do YOU plan on doing with Daggerheart?

Nothing. I have more books already than time to play. I’d run 2e again or Savage Worlds, Vaesen, Cypher…. I just do not see anything to draw me to Daggerheart.

Best RPG to run a Firefly game

Cypher System (and The Strange) I am surprised no mentioned it. It has modern, sci-fi, and fantasy rules. The mechanics are clean. In fact, my Strange campaign spent 3 months in the FireFly universe. I think Vaesen could also work.

D&D General Todd Kenreck Let Go from WotC

Public posting, public comment has been tried and the results are not good. Authors rarely feel the need to revise in response. The articles tend to be full of spin. The idea seemed decent, at first, but never worked out in practice. Some major OA publishers tried to say that folks needed to...

D&D General Todd Kenreck Let Go from WotC

How do you think peer review is funded now? It is funded by those subscriptions and Open Access fees. The average OA fee that an author pays is north of $3,000/paper now. Publishers have been working with universities to create read and publish deals that give institutions a set number of "free"...

D&D General Todd Kenreck Let Go from WotC

OA proponents believe that science should be free. It gained traction in the early 2000s by stating the government funded research should be freely available. That it not a bad goal and big publishers were charging out the nose for access so it was easy to demonize the industry. Instead of...

D&D General Todd Kenreck Let Go from WotC

It is BS because the government is not paying for peer review and publication. Even foundations like Gates are now refusing to pay OA fees. The OA folks want to bring it all in house now and have only government or institutions pay for all the peer review and production services, which is why...

D&D General Todd Kenreck Let Go from WotC

Paper mill detection still needs a person to check and follow up just like ithenticate plagiarism detection. The peer review issue is serious. Many journals are looking at AI to replace finding reviewers and many reviewers are illegally using AI to review. Many younger scientists no longer...

D&D General Todd Kenreck Let Go from WotC

The off-shoring in the industry has been awful over the last 10 years. If they can find a way to use AI, then they will. They are already using it for integrity and paper mill detection. I have even seen models for AI peer review.
