Hey there! My name is Bobby. I'm a Taurus so very earthly and contemplative. I'm a substitute teacher (when I actually DO get called in), mainly in middle and high schools. I work part-time at Tip Top Tailors selling mensware, so I'm fairly well dressed and feel somewhat naked without a blazer on. I have my BA and am finishing a BSc with Honors in Psychology. I'd like to get some masters degrees in counseling and eventually get a doctoral degree, maybe a PhD in Clinical Psych or a Psy D, so I can have my own counseling practice. Working within the school system my help some of the need, but I have serious doubt about being happy their in the long-term. I've been a buddhist personally for 6 years, been involved with shambhala buddhism for 4 years, and have formally taken refuge vows for 2 years and had a chance to take a 1 month meditation retreat.
Gaming-wise, I've played D&D since 3.0 came out in 2000 near the end of high school for me. I had played a session or two of 2nd Ed AD&D, but was very unengaged at the time and understood little mechanically. Now that 3.5 is formally a dead/finished system, the real work can now begin; that makes me a strong 3.5 revisionist. 4th Ed does have a lot of juice to squeeze, and I hear a lot of arrogant jerks reject 4th Ed on the stance of not wanting to re-buy new books or be forced to learn any new system regardless of playability (which I think is close-minded and insecure of them). Within my gaming circle, I am definitely the strongest variant, creativity promoter; others either don't seem to be interested in altering the system mechanics or are so conservative power-wise that they feel any change is either pointless or imbalancing.
I also play a live action RPG called NERO and my home chapter is NERO New Brunswick since 2000 as well. I hope other chapter eventually get off the ground. There may eventually be one around Halifax and a third mobile chapter around other parts of the maritimes. We've played some other board games as well. Kennie, who won't play D&D, love different board games. Risk2210 was really popular for a while. I have played some White Wolf games (like Vampire or Werewolf), but I don't do so regularly. I like the different roleplaying flavour sometimes: actual ROLEplaying, continuous growth (as compared to discrete Levels and XP in D&D), and more modern and urban settings. I played Diablo and some Starcraft and some Diablo 2 back in the day, but I'm getting back into them with Torchlight, possibly Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 when they arrive, and I will likely start playing WoW once the semester ends in May 2010. I like the easy mechanical flow of computer games that D&D can sometimes lack, but so linear and solitary and no drama or RPing.
