Hahaha, well played! That cover is indeed, by all means, not good. Thank you for putting things in a historical perspective.
If I didn't know these characters or wasn't familiar with the TSR logo, I would have thought this was some kind of homebrew publication. From a modern marketing...
Congratulations, Munchkin! A terrible, unfair game that still somehow finds its way to my kitchen table every now and then:) it's just so much random, dumb fun. Here's to the next 25 years!
Adventure Time Munchkin with the Dungeons expansion is still my fav. Shame that they don't print that one...
Glad people are liking these covers! I think I'm getting out of touch with the art direction of dnd:(
I'm absolutely not in the 'everything must be grim and violent all the time'-camp, but this just looks like some kind of shallow app store game to me... Have to see it for real though; wouldn't...
3e: Dungeon Master's Guide II. Part I was a great source of inspiration, but this one actually learned me how to DM!
5e: Volo's Guide to Monsters. A treasure trove of fun and useful D&D lore. Soooo many great campaign ideas in here.

I don’t totally get the appeal, but if...
Turning death saves into a roleplay / share-your-backstory prompt works like a charm in my home game! I even made a 20-card deck filled with fun RP prompts for it. Instead of just skipping their turn while the rest of the party is having all the fun, my downed players actually look forward to...
