D&D's New Solo Player Guideline Explained

Been playing "solo" or "duet" with my husband since the pandemic. The only rule is to shape the game to what's fun for the two of you. We usually do one PoV character and multiple NPCs, and I scale things appropriately, no need for rules like this. It does take a little experimenting to find...

D&D General WizKids Issues Refund for Baldur’s Gate 3 Character Boxed Set

I came here just to consider posting potato Jesus (aka Ecce Homo) and you beat me to it! Excellent. :) Shame about all those with dashed hopes, though. I'm glad the company didn't get away with it this time.

Jeremy Crawford Interview: The Monster Manual and More

I'm just grateful for thoughtful design and good art, even if all of it isn't always to my tastes. I can change the parts that aren't, but it's much harder to salvage incoherent work (which this most certainly won't be!). I'm not ready to 5.5 (no shelf space, honestly) but I'm thinking of buying...

WotC Mike Mearls: "D&D Is Uncool Again"

"Death of the genre/trend/fandom" articles and videos have been self-sustaining comment, click and view grabs since basically forever. Participate if you enjoy it, but otherwise move along. Nothing to see here.

New Unearthed Arcana Released, With 8 New Forgotten Realms-Themed Subclasses

I'm glad to see this. I also think the genie paladin is bizarre, lore-wise. Why would all the genies be working together? The fact that they don't is the basis for a lot of lore and history. Maybe I missed when/if they changed that (my brain is basically a 2E stone tablet).

2025 Monster Manual to Introduce Male Versions of Hags, Medusas, and Dryads

I'm very late to this party, and the good news is that no one cares what I think anyway. We'll do what we like, and our players will enjoy it. Having said that, I'll add that art like this can inspire you even if you prefer the world before you saw it. We embraced the fey and used all the 2E...

D&D General D&D 50th Anniversary Gets A TIME Magazine Special Edition

I've since gotten the magazine and read it cover to cover. On the whole I enjoyed it, especially the front sections on the history of the game, and the feature at the end about product tie-ins (pop-tarts?!). There were tidbits I didn't know, and the writing was good. I also really liked the art...

D&D General D&D 50th Anniversary Gets A TIME Magazine Special Edition

Nice, I'd like buy it, too. As for the die, Google Image search brought back some hopefuls, like this and this. There are many, many kinds of fancy d20s out there, though, so if you're looking for an upgrade, do note: here be dragons (and a rabbit hole, including metal, inclusions...

Project Sigil Project Sigil Updates: D&D's 3d Virtual Tabletop

I used to spend hours setting up detailed maps in roll20, and it was fun and rewarding. It was also expensive... I bought lots of tokens and props all the time, and made a lot of my own, too. It was a meta-hobby. Then the pandemic hit, and I was permanently tired. I "discovered" I could slap a...

D&D General Dark Horse Comics Signs Deal with Wizards of the Coast

Yes! I wonder "what might have been" every time I read them. There were more stories to tell for sure. I especially wanted to know what the deal was with Meredith in the Spelljammer series. Another thing I really liked about the DC series was how they visualized the magic. It wasn't always RAW...

D&D General Dark Horse Comics Signs Deal with Wizards of the Coast

I've picked up -- and put down -- a number of D&D comics, and nothing has captured me like the 90's DC series, "Advanced Dungeons & Dragons." I was delighted when an anthology came out in 2011 (4 volumes, starting here), so I could re-read to my hearts content without thumbing my tattered copies...
