To answer the question, no cause all the books we got so far still involved them, so the effect of them leaving can’t be judged yet.

Murder cultist is easy enough to refluff to suit different settings. Blood of Vol in Eberron for example.

You don't need to be an artificer to create magic items, pretty much anyone can do it. Artificers are the guys who can make magic items...
