    Help, it's a d20 from a far away land!

If that is the case, then the die I think it is must be in a dusty corner somewhere. /me gets on biohazard gear and begins planning a closet crawl :)

    Help, it's a d20 from a far away land!

It must have come into my hands in high school, in the late 90s. Maybe as late as early 1999. Said DM still used most of the dice he'd gotten in game sets from the 70s and early 80s. It may very well be from a boxed set game.

    Help, it's a d20 from a far away land!

I got this thing before there ever was Everquest, from my first DM. It had its honorary place as the bastard die. I was going through my dice to find missing pieces, and noticed the odd '20'. Also, it has a . instead of _ on the 9 and 6. Edit: the numbers are not sequentially ordered, but not...

    Help, it's a d20 from a far away land!

A normal size red d20 with white numbering in a times-like font, and with "EQ" where the 20 would be. Anyone have any ideas about where/what/when it's from?

    Implementing House Rules

I think you've got it. I'll just institute rules that are either common sense (for the setting and style), or if I can really cut down on the number of rolls w/o changing balance too much (grappling, FI). From that point, house rules tend to be things that there are problems with in the game, or...

    The True Rule 0.

It should have been designed with low magic characters in mind (especially the DMG content), like the literature that inspired it, and even the books that have come out based on it (let's see, how loaded up were those Dragonlance guys?). ...realism, however, is pointless; it's fantasy. Even if...

    Is the Illusionist Dead?

It's all DM and well, how you want to use it. Combining illusions with other spell effects (mind-affecting, and related to the illusion--like a big fire elemental and a little ball of flame around him, plus some extras) can make for some cool stuff, but the DM has to be OK with it, and be...

    Iron Lore: Malhavoc's Surprise?

Some thoughts... I think I'll wait for IL for my campaign now. I got WoT d20, and have been using that for a base, and done well, I think. Converting magic has had some minor hitches, though. However, even when working well, there's been a major problem: portability. I can make stunts (I was...

    DnD Industrial Revolution

Firearms would be easy to come by. Crappy swords, as well. If it's not too long after an industrial revolution, though, the quality and quantity would vary wildly. Individual craftsmen would have an edge in popularity, if not price. Anyone could get a cheap pistol, but even with mass-production...

Rebuilding the Monk -- Mystic class posted!

If by unarmed damage you mean the dice going up, just use Weapon Specialization and have some extra tiers of it. It won't be dice, but it will average out well. You could reduce the combat power of the 'new' monk class, making a Ftr/Mst (or whatever you use to abbr. it :)) good for doing a...

    PRC: Binder

Binder (first full write-up) Binding is a relatively new realm of practice. To use one's power to bring a being from another realm of existence into this one, and either force it to do your bidding, make trade, or search for those intelligences out there paralleling your path. But, this goes...

Put a number on free will (magic)

OK, here's what I've got so far: 1. I'll be using a WP/VP system, spending VP for magic. 2. There are currently four magic-specific skills: Presence Empathy Charge Discharge Magic used will have a power level and difficulty class, based on minimum features. I haven't decided whether to go with...

Put a number on free will (magic)

I've got a system going well for classless skill-based magic (and metamagic-like effects on good rolls). After giving up on complex point-based systems, it was pretty easy :). Enchantments, however, lack solid numbers with which I can compare other spells. So basically, I'm fishing for ideas on...

This keeps happening, why? No, really... why?

If it doesn't become a ferocious villager-terrorizing monster, why bother? :) Just have some big cats in the game world with telepathy: bam! Done. And they can still be villager-terrorizers! Overall, I think the race/culture integration is what makes such things most dull (and can often...

    Race for critiquing

Thanks. I dug them out of old files I had around. I'm usually not too into the normal set of fantasy races simply because there's no reason for their being there. The heat stroke bit is entirely flavor; that they were originally engineered to keep an area of the world as it was, and be a arts...
