I think that is only true if the writing is less tight. There is a lot more story to be told about this pair. I think the one and done is good when there is no more road left in the story being told. Wanda Vision was a good example of this. Individually there were more stories, but not as that group

I liked the ones that were during the rule of the rule of the machines. They were trippy and reminded me of retro-60s sci-fi in a good way.

No, they just arent starting out with unknowns. And again, we really only have one lantern in the DCU. There are two that we know are coming - and who knows how many more in the show. It's not out yet. And in the comics, no they aren't relegated to supporting roles. If you'd read the articles...

The movie has the three most known Lanterns in it. Did you look at the bit I quoted? There are several female lanterns, and some of them among the most powerful, if not the iconic ones. Also, we currently don't know anything about the TV show other than a teaser.
