I'm not sure
...if this is the best approach to be dealing with epic characters. If this becomes a battle between DM and player, as D&D so often is (personal statement), the players will _always_ win. There are more of them than you. They don't need to spend 20 hours a week to entertain you...
Well, if the ring's an NPC
If an intelligent item is treated as an NPC, and it participates in combat encounters, then it should receive a share of the XP award, right, just like if you brought an NPC fighter along? Whether or not the item itself can receive XP and "advance" (notwithstanding...
A wrinkle
I just visited drivethrurpg and saw no reference at all to this fabulous "agreement" with WOTC. I also didn't note any link to WOTC products on the left-side menu, the one with the publishers listed. Wonder what's up with that?
Ladies behind the screen
My sweetie runs any number of gaming systems: Mage, Buffy, 7th Sea, but she won't touch d20 generally or D&D specifically. Too many rules for her, she says. Get rid of the rules lawyers, I say.
Neat!
That's a pretty cool base monster. How do you DMs (and players) feel about the "non-associated" CR adjustment? Is the creature here, with 8 levels of cleric as well as monster goodness, really only a CR 9?
Yeah, what he said!
Man, this question came up in my game just a couple of sessions ago. I let the PC use total defense, even though it seemed to defy logic. Of course, in that same session, a anthropomorphic leopard under the effect of a fly spell was zipping around the field of battle, so I...
A little powerful?
What do you all think about the 1st-level power that does 1d10 damage to a creature and is augmentable (for each additional power point, an additional d10 damage is dealt) (i.e. Mind Thrust)? Even with a WILL save and SR (OK, PR), isn't this about two die sizes more powerful...
Whew!
Totally thanks for clearing up what this thread was about. I was getting ready to post a nasty note, with profanity and everything, about pirating/stealing books. But yeah, Share the Love, baby!
I'd think that if your campaign was internally consistent and the PCs were anywhere above low level, the monk at least (and probably the party as a whole) would gain a reputation as being very tough to beat via simple melee combat. The criminal underworld certainly has a "grapevine" through...
Man, whatever you do, make sure to keep some kind of game night going. All of us here know how hard it is to get and keep a good, cohesive gaming group, and even if your current (former?) DM's opinion of the gaming isn't so high, the rest of you are probably enjoying yourselves.
But get ready...
Equal time, please
Of course, I wish you and yours all the best with your dragonslaying expedition. Goodness knows that I hope the players in my campaign reach an appropriate level for such fun in the near future (that is, if the mummies don't continue ganging up and striking them down).
But...
I buy the magazine regularly for the wide variety of stuff in it. Supporting a small game company that puts out very interesting (and to my mind, quite often excellent) materials is well worth $5 every three months. I don't think that a four-page campaign journal/story hour would dilute the...
Sample dragons
Earlier on, someone asked if the Draconomicon had sample dragons and I didn't see an answer. Yes, the book has sample dragons for all chromatics (and metallic, I think) for all age categories. It also has little personality write-ups and such. It's the last section of the book...
