good/evil is in the eye of beholder.
that's another reason why game rules that specify what is and what is not good are automatically flawed and lead to endless arguments. and if if happens inside the game ("you are lawful good! why did you killed that man?") its even worse.
ok. I think that designer's goal is quite clear: to help players to play their characters.
But my experience points out that it does more harm then good for reasons I stated in my previous posts and to incorporate alignment to rules/spells/items was just bad idea.

ah, so the only reason for using alignment is because of its ties to cosmology, settings and mechanics of the DnD?
ok I acknowledge it. but I would get rid of alignment dependent rules even if I played regular DnD. They just dont make sense to me.
Psion: I just prefer when my player describes his character as "has a strong sense of duty, but nor particularly cruel nor compassionate..." than simply "lawful neutral" which can be really anything and nothing, but mostly its "someone who obeys the law" as players tend to simplify it.

I dont use alignment rules at all. I think they deform player's mindset and encourage playing one-dimensional stereotypical characters instead of ones with rich psychology.
And I dont like spells/items based on alignment. sword that kills 'lawful evil people' seems to me very artificial, or...

Conan is a fine game. its low magic but maybe too heroic for my preference. But if I didnt play in Warhammer Old World I would play in Conan age.

btw I would not call anyone from my gaming groups Joe Average. Their characters are just too much interesting for that. And it doesnt matter that they dont have bags full of magic items and dont slay monsters on daily basis ;)
