Larger groups are a whole different problem unto themselves. I have a larger group and I subscribe to Stalker0's encounter design theories/guidelines. Never use creatures more than +/- 2 levels of the party. When I build my encounters I only decide what creature type(s) I'm going to use...
Just a correction from the MM3 damage expressions. A good PDF chart was made and posted over at http://slyflourish.com/master_dm_sheet.PDF All it's missing is the difference between monster types for HPs (Artillery, Brute, etc.) as they are listed as low, medium, high which probably equate to...
I don't think this is the kind of piracy they were going after. I've seen posted elsewhere that you can download a hacked version of CB with full features and WotC doesn't get a dime. In the new web based scenario you have to hack their servers to get access. Also the (annoyingly low) 20...
Well...everyone can now evaluate how well you predicted the future. The announcement that CB is dead will likely be followed by MB is also dead and CB will be online only from now on. This puts my prediction at half right. Online CB, but offline CB is no more. Some here did better than I did...
That depends on your definition of "Less". If less means that you have the same tool, but it's only available online then yes you have less. Try suggesting to Mac/Linux users that THEY have less.
Yes. The free gravy train has ended. Why are we shocked?
As a developer I don't think that...
.NET is very heavy weight. It runs slow on my pretty fast machines. I've run Silverlight apps and they are much faster so I'd expect that to be LESS of a problem. The only possible downside is if he's running dial-up.
The above mentioned "export" functionality will solve your problem (or...
I might allow this to work for the initial damage (d6 + Int - Area burst 0 -> Area burst 1 - just for the "cool" factor and say "yes" attitude), but certainly not for the "Effect" as there are no dice rolled for the damage (just WIS mod). But RAW I'm with the other posters in that the...
The fighter in my game took an Urgosh and combined it with every power that added CON to damage for his Warforged. Some require an Axe and some don't have any requirement, but his static damage bonus was just a few points behind the Sorcerer at level 18 (+26 vs +30 IIRC).
Having considered their announced "web tools suite" and more information coming "soon" I'm going to speculate one possibility.
I'm going to speculate that they will have a web version of CB (and possibly AT). Are they going to stop supporting CB and AT? I don't think so, but... I have a...
I don't remember if this was said or not, but the 20 Dex Slayer does have one advantage that I was reminded of from another thread. Get a Great bow. RBA is already based on Dex so you get to add the full amount twice and throw in the stance for 1d12+12 at first level (+13 if you're human and...
So they forget how to use the magic when charging. Got it.
I'm with most of the other posters. Every class should have either a good MBA or a good RBA be it a class feature built in like the Thief that allows a different stat for MBA or a power like MM for the Wizard that has the special line...
This. I've been running 4e about since it came out and my party is just hitting Epic. As I said previously, for the cost of a feat the Rogue can be full power against ranged opponents with a great bow. The Ranger is either built ranged or melee, but is awesome at whichever build (even the Str...
Having had a Str/Con Fighter with an Urgosh at my table I can attest to the striker level damage AND all the defender abilities in tact. I'm not really pleased that such a build is possible. The Slayer OTOH I like because it gets the striker damage at the expense of being a defender (marking...
Knight (Str/Con): Str primary, heavy thrown Javelin +2/d6 10/20
Slayer (Str/Dex): Dex secondary long bow +2/d10 20/40 OR Javelin above with Str
Warpriest (Wis/Con): not much here, but could skip Con and make Dex secondary
Thief (Dex/[Str/Cha]): Dex primary with Short Bow +2/d8 15/30
Mage...
