The problems I have with Meals post are two fold.
1. Complaining about "participation trophies" in a cooperative story-telling game feels really out of whack. Isn't the only WIN in D&D the participation itself. If we wanted competitive games we would be playing board games like Settlers or...
I get people are comparing to Daggerheart since it releasing soon, but I feel it is far more similar to Gloomhaven, or more closely their "starter" set... Jaws of the Lion. Cards for characters and items that likely can be "upgraded" during advancement. It would be easy to do a level or four...
I have run a few high-level campaigns, and first I would not start at level 1. I get the idea behind it but they really feel like to different circles that are "nearly" impossible to square. First a single high-level PC, mainly casters, could destroy entire kingdoms. The threats just feel "off"...
I think the underlying premise of the OP is wrong. Considering incomes, generally they increase with age. Using google (yeah I know that isn't always reliable) the average 16 year old makes $32,500 vs at 60 it's $62,000. However, teens have near zero in bills while older adults save at much...
The numbers came from Teos's calculations in his video. While I realize they are not fully equivalent, Moderate and Medium are synonymous. Most DMs will look at building encounters and think "this should be a decent challenge" and just choose Moderate. I wanted a mathematical comparison.
After...
The modules very rarely followed the encounter building guidelines, as has been noted by a number of people over the years. Either people run them strictly by the book and won't much care, or people like myself rip them apart and rebuild them and will use the new guidelines.
I did the same for Level 20.
2014 Level 20 encounter 4 Characters:
Medium Challenge is 4 CR 8 Monsters
Total HP: 480; Total Damage/Round: 160
2024 Level 20 encounter 4 Characters:
Medium Challenge is 4 CR 16 Monsters
Total HP: 960; Total Damage/Round: 484
This should help make high level...
I got curious about 2014 vs 2024 encounters, so now that we have the new monster math and encounter guidelines I matched out 2 examples. Thought some people would enjoy it.
2014 Level 10 encounter 4 characters:
Medium Challenge is 4 CR 3 Monsters
Total HP: 240; Total Damage/Round: 80
2024...
Realized I dropped the feminine part, added back got these. Not terrible they look badass and dwarf-like but not sure what's going on with the first weapon but I kind of want that in game.
Switched the prompt replacing Warhammer with axe and it did okay: short strong squat plump grizzled women warrior with axe and plate armor standing on broken boulders looking at camera with a hard stare high quality digital art
I don't hate the short scruff on the second still feels dwarven...
Used this prompt: short strong squat plump grizzled hard feminine women warrior with Warhammer and plate armor standing on broken boulders looking at camera with a hard stare high quality digital art
I got a dwarf I really like, the others were close but not quite attached for examples.
