I’m not sure large print books would help.
Like the OP I have breached 50 years (and some) and my eyesight is not as good as it used to be, so now require reading glasses to read.
I am using an iPad right now, and if I increase the text size then sure I can read without my glasses but the text...
Different system and different time in the setting.
WFRP 5E will still use the d100 system. TOW uses a d10 dice pool system.
And TOW is set approx 300 years earlier than WFRP. TOW also takes a lot of influence from Warhammer The Old World (the game of fantasy battles in a world of legend).
The Laundry Roleplaying game is available on drivethru so would make it inelegible: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/publisher/54/cubicle-7-entertainment-ltd/category/52832/the-laundry-roleplaying-game
Conan’s strengths lie in his left bicep and in his right bicep. And chest and stomach. And legs. OK, it was all over. Maybe not his hair though. He was a strength thief. As opposed to a agility thief.
Conan was a thief. And a barbarian. So did he multiclass? Or just go "give me all your stuff else I squeeze your head"? I think his backstab was just stabbing through the front to get to the back.
There was a time, when Fantasy Flight Games had the license, there was a POD of the 2E core book on drivethrurpg. Alas it is no longer available, probably gone when Cubicle 7 got the licence. I already had a core rulebook for 2E so decided on not getting one, but now regret not taking advantage...
Initial reaction would be to run Warhammer 4E. Maybe Warhammer The Old World for its simpler system.
I’d also consider Legend in the Mist for a less grimdark game.
I have fond memories of MERP. I felt that it was a better game than Rolemaster (IIRC character creation was quite simple in comparison) and wished they had an expansion that carried on level progression past 10 rather than assuming people would pick up Rolemaster.
