Do you want them to be weaker?

I have “normal” characters max out at Level 8.

I know. That’s why it’s a nitpick. That being said, I like their logic behind it.

Nitpick: Book of Erotic Fantasy argues that mechanically, “three-quarters orc” is an “orc”.

Why only take out 9th Level spells? It would probably make spell casting feel more natural if all spell levels were learned that way. It would also help explain why powerful mages are so rare?

That would just discourage leveling up.

Define “good” cause I don’t think any culture really qualifies. Other than that, I imagine them to mostly be Hunter-Gatherers that normally live in Swampy areas. While murder is scene as bad and war is a lost resort, they don’t see why there’s a taboo on eating creatures, even other Orcs. That...

What does this solve?

I don’t understand the idea that no one is supposed to be able to achieve higher levels. Raising the level cap just means that higher levels are worth less.

The way I see it: Low-tier full of mooks and grunts: 1 to 8. Mid-tier full of experts and captains: 9 to 14. High-tier full of generals and veterans: 15 to 18. BBEG tier: 19+.

Alignment is always descriptive anyways. It shouldn’t be a destiny.

That excuse always sounds backwards to me since there’s no reason why the player wouldn’t act the same way even without the alignment system.

But that’s something that happens entirely separate from Level. It could’ve happened at Level 1 for anyone who cared.

I wanted to emphasize their more porcine origins, so all the orcs that most people picture as Orcs actually have some degree of human decent to them. Pureblood Orcs are thematically more likely Minotaurs only with boars and pigs.
