    Practical Map Usage Question

I used to scan in the maps, then edit out the DM only stuff, then project them on a 2nd monitor a the table that the players could see. I gave it up after a little bit. It was nice, and the players liked seeing the detail. But it was WAY too much work for me. Also, players would...

What did you do with your 3.0 PHB/DMG/MM when you updated to 3.5?

I did the noble thing and bequeathed them to my son. I use the 3.5 books and so does he when we game together, but when he and his friends run mini games in his room, he's got a set of 3.0 books to use.

    Ring of Jumping

IIRC the ring eliminates the maxium jump distance in the table. When a character with 30' speed runs 20' then jumps 90' using a full round action, he ends his turn in mid-air 40' from the edge (20 move + 40 jump = 60' for a full round move). The next round, he move the remaining 50' and has...

Queen with burning eyes map from Dungeon 113

Anyone else find the map for "The Queen with Burning Eyes" in Dungeon 113 hard to read. Well, I did. And I was in the mood to make a retro type (blue and white) map. So I redid this one so I could follow it easier. GM Map: GM_MAP.gif Players Map: Players_Map.gif Enjoy

    Adventure Module level database

The author of DM's Familiar put together a site that is essentially a database of adventures. Check it out at http://www.paladinpgm.com/wyrm/

Do you prefer Monster statistics in an adventure's text or at the end

I voted for in the appendix. I've used published adventures with both, and the "in the text" mode sucked because repeated monsters referred you back to the first occurance (which was page flipping, but to different pages). I flip to the index in RttToEE where a bookmark sits. It works fine...

Do you roll for a Monster's HP?

I often roll hp so my players can't determine exactly when a creature will fall. So when they are attacked by multiple of the same creature, they can't just count hp and know "Oh, that one has only one hp left, let the weak guy get it." Also, I use DM's Familiar and it has the option to roll...

    An innocent Terrasque?

I agree with Tonguez. Once the delema appeared and you and your friends disagreed, you should have begun searching for a solution. Friends who had adventured together for long enough to become legend (30th level) would most likely not throw out their friendship so easily. And it sounds like...

    Dundjinni Anyone?

It makes great looking maps from what I've seen, but I've found great looking maps are just neat, not useful. As the DM I'm the only one who gets to see them. Even if you were to print them and use them as battlemats, you would have to find some way to keep the hidden areas covered. (and take...

    RPGNow vs. DTRPG

I'm assuming that the quote "the first completely professional gaming e-Book site" is nitpicking that they sell e-Books as opposed to pdf's. That's how I read it. Marketing hyerbole usually seems to work that way. RPGNow sells pdfs, but DT sells e-books (mean DRM'ed pdf's) and e-books are so...

    How do you use pdf's

I primarily use them for reference during planning a session, which means I need them available at work and at home. I copy and paste needed info into notes or DM's Familiar (the reference software I run during the game). I have printed a couple out in their entirity, but most I will only...

    [ShareTheLove] Hatin' Eberron?

Mines on order already, but as a b-day gift. Gotta wait until mid July. Dang, I shouldn't have put it on my birthday list.

Relation Between Message Board Visitors and Product Purchasers

Of the 19 players I dm for (multiple games) only one buys anthing beyond the players handbook. And she only buys from her FLGS. I'm the only one who buys pdfs or over the web, and I'm the only one who visits ENWorld regularly (yes, I'm a daily lurker). I don't think any of the others have...

Do you USE/HATE DM Management Software?

I use DM's Familiar and have never regretted it. Primarily I use it as a combat manager, reference, and planner. But it also helps immensly at times when I need to throw out a monster I hadn't planned. I think it helps speed up play a lot. I only have DMF roll for the monsters and NPCs, the...

    Eberron - Cool or Drool?

I'm actually quite excited about it. I want to read it first and just enjoy that, then I want to run it and see how it goes. If at that point I don't like it, oh well. I'll bet I use it though.
