The 5 'Tiers' of TTRPG Publishing

I guess I overestimated Evil Hat. Between how big its Fate and Blades lines seemed to be on message boards, I assumed they were one of the bigger players. Chaosium & Modiphus being about the same makes sense to me. Chaosium may have few products, but a bunch of them are essentially evergreen...

The 5 'Tiers' of TTRPG Publishing

Very interesting. I'd be very curious where PEG, Chaosium, and Onyx Path land. Somewhere around or below Evil Hat, I'd bet.

RPG Print News – Arkham Horror, Savage Worlds, Troika!, and More

Street Wolves is a great Savage Setting. I strongly recommend it.

    Life path system in-game

One of the things I dig about Mongoose Traveller is providing a bonus if you can tie another PC into an event that is rolled during character creation, creating bonds between PCs. Smallville did something similar, but it wasn't a lifepath per se. I think games like Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay...

Who Should Make The Next Star Wars TTRPG, And What Should It Look Like?

Honestly, you can run Star Wars out of the box with Savage World and the Sci-Fi Companion. That said, there are some great fan supplements that make it even easier.

Who Should Make The Next Star Wars TTRPG, And What Should It Look Like?

Growing up, Star Wars D6 was my absolute favorite system to run. Personally, I think Savage Worlds is its spiritual successor and captures the same pulp action vibe I want in a Star Wars system. That said, I think dealing with major licenses is a huge pain and can be the kiss of death for...

How does your group handle an absent player?

I game with folks who are similarly busy and middle aged. If they can't make a session, its generally because life got in the way, so I try to make sure it doesn't interfere with character advancement or anything like that. Generally, I say their PC(s) are gone doing something else and keep it...

    Best RPG for Arabian adventures

I'd consider Savage Worlds for pulp swashbuckling and there is the Hellfrost: Land of Fire setting, but I don't know how 'Al-Qadim-y' it is.

    Sell me on Savage Worlds

In fairness, I think those rules were introduced first by Savage Worlds Deluxe era third party settings (I'm pretty sure I first saw both of them in Beasts & Barbarians). One of the strengths of Savage Worlds has been, in my opinion, incorporating solid material from Savage Settings into the...

    Sell me on Savage Worlds

There are ways to split the difference in the more recent editions using: the 'Resilient/Very Resilient' in the SWADE core which gives an Extra one or two wounds the elite extra rules (I'm blanking on which book they are in, but I've seen them in a bunch of settings) where you can give a...

    Sell me on Savage Worlds

I kind of think the best cure for this is settings that have very flavourful and genre-specific edges & hinderances. Beasts & Barbarians, Street Wolves, Wiseguys all have very cool edges & hinderances that can tempt players away from doing the same thing each game

What is/are your most recent TTRPG purchase(s)?

I went a little nuts buying Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 4e hard copies with the 25% off coupon the current Humble Bundle provides

What Lost, Abandoned or Short Lived TTRPG would you like to see get a re-issue and new support?

Continuum. I'd love to see a new version along with the planned expansions.
