The way I see it, it's less a question of balance than one of focusing the player's attention. During combat, defenders and controllers are supposed to think "How can I keep the party from being over-whelmed?", strikers are supposed to think "What targets do I need to take out and how can I...
What nova problem? From our play, we've found that the smart thing to do with daily powers is to save them for when you really need them. Yes, you can win even a tough encounter pretty quickly by having your party blow through all of them (assuming they don't all miss :(), but unless you're in...
You're looking at it wrong. Being out of healing surges but at full hit-points doesn't mean that your character is completely unharmed; it means that he's so tired and beat-up that not even magic will help, and another tough fight will likely kill him.
Healing's always been weird in D&D, because hit points aren't very good at simulating actual wounds, and work better as an abstraction. 4e just embraces this fact more than previous edititions have.
You should probably include racial feats in your break-down. For example, Hellfire Blood is absolutely great for tiefling warlocks (and makes an infernal pact more attractive) and wizards.
