Dani-Saur

Hai! Probably no one will read this, but whatevs;

My name is Dani-Saur, I am from Northern Ireland and I have not yet played a single game of Dungeons and Dragons!
I'm serious!
The trouble is, that I have no idea how to start. I've got the books, I've got a few interested friends, and I've got somewhere we could play. But I just can't figure out how...
I promise I'm not an idiot, I just can't figure it out. So any and all help would be welcome.
Remember, I am a complete beginner so you'll have to be patient for me.
