Experimental Rules for Hot Pursuit/Horseback Chase Combat

That's a really good point. To avoid 'stunlocking' I might make it so that any status effect doesn't affect the horse, much like being knocked prone. The idea being whatever knocks you about, you generally stay in the saddle, you having got yourself taggled in the stirrups. I took this...

Experimental Rules for Hot Pursuit/Horseback Chase Combat

Thanks very much. I'm looking forward to actually trying them out to see what needs refining.

    Haggling Minor Skill Challenge Mechanic

Having just uploaded my experimental Hot Pursuit Rules here, it occured to me to upload my Haggling minor skill challenge rules that I've been using for a while. The main reason for coming up with these rules was that haggling in my old group generally consisted of a player repeatedly asking...

Experimental Rules for Hot Pursuit/Horseback Chase Combat

Recently my group started investing in various modes of transport, mainly horses, but the paladin purchased a covered wagon (affectionately called the Pallywagon) and that got me thinking about rules for combat on horseback in a chase. Obviously a straight up, linear chase would be unfeasable...

Could you explain how you design your 'packets'? Are they grouped by type; say a minion packet, a brute packet etc?

Tips and Advice for Flexible Encounters

In the near future, I'm going to be running a campaign, but I'm unsure as to how many players, and also what level they are going to start at, but I still want to get the nitty gritty (encounters, monsters etc) penned down. Additionally, I would like to give the players the option to approach...

    D&D Achievements

I love all this feedback. I think the main reason for using achievements is to reward rather than force my players to use more subtle tactics. Once they've got the proper hang of stuff like flanking, damage types and combining powers, I'll start throwing more vicious stuff at them.

    D&D Achievements

Ooooh, thanks for the feedback. I didn't know about that stuff in DMG2, even though I've got it, I've not read it properly. I defo like the idea of devices and terrain powers. I'll have a look into it. Thank you

    D&D Achievements

Recently I've been DM'ing my own story for four of my friends and I noticed that they've not being using more advanced techniques (flanking, charging etc) or variation (one player pretty much only uses 2 at will abilities) They're all new to 4e and so it's taking them a bit of time to easy into...

    Gargantuan

I've been contemplating this issue for my d&d campaign I'm running. I want the players to fight a huge spider, but am being heavily inspired by Lost Planet 2, namely where you shoot out the legs of a giant creature. My idea is to have 8 'legs' models, each one large in size. The players can...
