Make Cantrips require the players Focus/Holy Symbol/Instrument etc. If they don't have it, it uses a 1st level (or higher) spell slot to cast.
That goes a long way towards one of the most common complaint of "Cantrips are so much better because you can't be disarmed while I have to lug around...
I find "Killing someone is ok, but doing X to them is worse" baffling regardless of what X is. And especially when X is mind control of some sort.

None of this is a problem once you accept the premise that all Love deities, Love worshipers, and Love itself are all at their core irredeemably evil and destructive.
... and also that it works the same way in D&D.

Y'know, the color printed ones, with just 5 minutes of "anyone can do it" inkwash and/or drybrush, would probably come close enough to the hand-painted ones for general use. It's really contours/highlights that they are missing.
