New home construction fell more than expected in August, taking economic growth and keep the pressure on Barack Obama to do more to help the economy sputtering.
Construction of new homes fell 5 percent, the highest since April to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 571,000 units, the Commerce Department said Tuesday.
Economists polled by Reuters had forecast an innovative intervention should include only 590,000 units in August. Housing starts are less than a third of its peak in the growth of the housing market strong.
