For the same number of books (300+ page full-colour hardcover), we paid $5.59 per book in the EU. A quarter of the price. And of course...

You are exactly correct. One could make it back, though ultimately the margin is too thin, and RPG's don't usually sell a thousand books...

$20 per book is very high. You should be paying a fraction of that. (Which, of course, is why people don't print locally).

There was a period a few years back when it was cheaper for us to fulfil Canada from the UK than the US.

We actually tried to drop-ship books from our Canadian printer to our Canadian customers and it was more expensive than shipping books... -

There is a whole field involved with supply chains, generally the common wisdom says they take a while to grow, 20 years or so...
