Fun with pressure hulls.
It's the first session of the campaign. The players are aboard a beat-up old starship that's just been thrown through a wormhole Voyager-style clean out of known space. Wormhole transit was pretty rough and knocked the power down, took out the comms, etc.
They've got...
Very. Well. Said.
If you can't end up down to 2 hit points cornered by a vampire and nail off three natural twenties in a row thus ashiung the bastard, what is the point of randomisation?
Likewise, if you can't hit a 1 on a roll needing 2+, that campaign is (IMNSHO) missing something.

Considering that heavy cavalry are among the deadliest of pre-gunpowder troop types, it's always amazed me how useless cavalry are in most pre-gunpowder RPG's.
Stick Joe Swordsman on a horse and you've got Jim Shock Troop.
If I was GMing that campaign, I'd allow it.
I'd also give the animated object every toughness bonus the dead chara had.
And I'd give the player who came up with the idea a kickback EXP bonus for having a seriously cool idea.
Uh, isn't that a GMPC?
(Or DMPC)
Like your definition. So, Henchman = a mercenary with some personality and impact on the campaign.
So, logically, a cohort = the 'non-monetary' equiv of a hireling, while a 'follower' is a developed character who follows a PC.
Good one, Faraer.
Um, White Wolf = Bunch of smegheads who don't know overblown if they're slapped in the face with it.
WoW = Valid reason to loathe all MMORGs. This is computer game suckiness defined, peeps.
Both = Caution. Avoid.
Seriously, White Wolf are doing WoW stuff and you're surprised that it's a pile of...
Ouch. Tough luck, man! Wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.
Have you tried using a disk recovery utility on your effed drive? I had much the same happen some years ago, and recovered most of the stuff using Norton Systemworks.
If you ask me (which you didn't, but I'll say anyway) a bad guy without a motivation isn't a villain..
They're a bodycount waiting to happen.
They're also lame, and pointless. The bad guy's motivation should at least be 'I'm a less-than-wise mugger' or 'I'm a barking mad man-eater and I'm...
It's all monetary.
A follower/cohort is working for you because he believes in what you're doing. He's grokked what you stand for, and he likes it. He admires you and wants to help you towards your goal, and he's willing to risk his life for you.
A hireling/henchman is a mercenary. He's in it...
Um, dude, no offence, but an attitude like that would get me asking very serious questions as to if a player belonged in my gaming group.
A boosted mount is fairly obvious for higher-level charas, and it's not just Sir Holy Knight who should have one - ever heard of Dick Turpin? Now there's a...
After a vague scan of this thread (vague scan, not read-through) it seems like a lot of people are discounting the thing with duplicate items.
If we take the following as a given:
Magical items are SERIOUSLY EXPENSIVE!!!! Then they'll be a bit like ultra-rare collector's items; hard to find a...
