Weeknight Gamers in (West) Los Angeles?

Anyone have an open seat available in a weeknight game somewhere in Western Los Angeles? I commute from Sherman Oaks to the South Bay, so anywhere reasonably close or in-between would be fair game. I'm relatively open to most systems/genres. I've played and/or run D&D 4.0, 13th Age, Dungeon...

Players wanted in Long Beach/Orange County, CA

We are a group of four gamers, meeting weekly near Cerritos, CA, and we could use another player or two if anyone is interested. We play a fairly wide variety of games - just finishing up a 4E campaign, but then moving onto Marvel Heroic Roleplaying and 13th Age. Currently we meet on Wednesday...

So the playtest is out: What do you think? The EN World poll!

Hated it. All it needs to do is include Weapon Speed, and it will officially have brought back everything I hate about previous editions. (And before you say "But you weren't *there* man", I've been playing since AD&D. 4e is far and away my favorite edition.)

Elephant in the room: rogue and fighter dailies.

I love 4e's AEDU setup so much that I want to take it behind the middle school and get it pregnant. I'll be very disappointed if it gets shown the door during this edition change, and will not be buying 5e.

    Eberron inconsistencies

They aren't called 'conductor stones' for nothing... anyone attempting to mess with them will get a nice electrical shock for their trouble.

    Unusual Vehicles for Urban Heroes

How about a Herkimer Battle Jitney? It's the finest nonlethal military vehicle ever made.

Painted Privateer Press Miniature (where to buy?)

Just an FYI: That's not a mini, it's an action figure.

    Podcasts?

If you are looking for actual play podcasts, one of the best is Critical Hit (not to be confused with Critical Hits, which is good too). Critical Hit is done by the guys who also do the Major Spoilers podcast, and they have a really professional sound set-up - very little background noise or...

LOST the game (spoilers for the TV show)

Not the same guy. Dave was imaginary; Libby was married to another guy named David - this has been verified by Damon Lindelof.

Converting 3.5 Eberron adventures to 4E-advice, opinions

I had some thoughts, but it never made it onto paper. And it's been awhile, so I can't really remember much. One thing that I ran into trying to make those conversions was that encounter design is very different from 3E to 4E. If I was doing it again, I'd probably jettison the idea of directly...

Converting 3.5 Eberron adventures to 4E-advice, opinions

I really liked Eyes of the Lich Queen, and even posted a bunch of conversions for the first chapter on this board. Unfortunately, that group fell apart before we even started the campaign, so I stopped posting.

Skill Challenge to (temporarily) replace Combat

Skill challenges are abstractions to usher parties past obstacles, be it a quarrelsome dwarf with some info or a forbidding swamp. Or in my case, a camp full of unobservant bullywugs. Of course I could have them fight every single tadpole in the camp, and have the whole place mapped out square...

Skill Challenge to (temporarily) replace Combat

I'd suggest you go and look at the Rules Compendium, pg. 128; this is almost exactly the example they use for group Stealth skill checks. As I said before, only one of the skills was a stretch (Intimidate). Everything else was off the top of my head, and I'd happily accept any of them as...

Skill Challenge to (temporarily) replace Combat

Let's run down the Fighter's trained skills to see how he can help out. Athletics: The Fighter climbs to a vantage point out of sight of the patrolling guards, and after the Rogue makes a Stealth or Bluff check to draw their attention, he drops down behind them and dispatches them quickly...

Skill Challenge to (temporarily) replace Combat

I like this. Consider it yoinked.
