How do you guys handle enemies setting traps for the party? I'm designing this encounter where goblins have set traps in advance but want to know what's the DC for the party to notice the hidden trap (vs. Perception). Should I just assign a DC (per the DMG) or should I roll for the goblins...

Dpends on how tough I want the fight to be. Usually I would go with the stated HP total for a normal fight, or max hp if I want to make it a hard encounter. If the combat went too easy, I can adjust on the fly to make things a little more interesting.

How do you guys handle PCs wanting to train animals for combat? It seems that 5e doesn't really encourage that. I remember having a blast with my Fighter and his 2 war dogs in Pathfinder. How do you guys translate teaching new tricks and giving orders during combat using 5e rules? Would you...
