Purple Dragon Knight Retooled as Banneret in D&D's Heroes of Faerun Book

You really don't know that this is true. I fully believe the new lore was created specifically for the subclass and the subclass was not a byproduct of the lore because I don't know how anyone logically gets to PDKs working with Amethyst Dragons. Also to be clear I did complain about the...

Purple Dragon Knight Retooled as Banneret in D&D's Heroes of Faerun Book

It is not the prior lore, it is the new lore they published in the UA. In the UA they said the "PDKs are paragons of valor ... rally to the causes of justice and freedom .... protect the innocent ... enlisted from any realms where chivalry is in abundance ..." I think what Banana is saying is...

    D&D 5E (2024) Purple Dragon Knight as a background?

Well if they do it for other factions then it is a fine idea. If not then no.

    D&D 5E (2024) Purple Dragon Knight as a background?

I still don't think either of them was heavily involved. We will see in a couple months.

    D&D 5E (2024) Purple Dragon Knight as a background?

Well at least one of them said they were leaving because they just finished and launched the 2024 core rulebooks. I doubt either of them are credited on either of the new Forgotten Reams rulebooks and I don't think either of them are heavily involved in it. Also, I believe Crawford was...

Purple Dragon Knight Retooled as Banneret in D&D's Heroes of Faerun Book

Dragons don't change much in 100 years.

    D&D 5E (2024) Purple Dragon Knight as a background?

They are no longer at WOTC and are not writing the Forgotten Realms books.

    D&D 5E (2024) Purple Dragon Knight as a background?

Are we going to make other factions backgrounds? Harper background .... Zhent background .... Shadow Thief background? There is already a background for the PDK - Soldier and if you don't like the specifics on it you can go with a custom background, or the 2014 Knight background.. Same for a...

Purple Dragon Knight Retooled as Banneret in D&D's Heroes of Faerun Book

This seems really cheesy and weak. This sounds to me like lore made up to justify the subclass, not a subclass made to fit lore and to me it is similar to the pathetic backstory attempt players sometimes make in justifying an off-brand multiclass combo or subclass choice. This is especially...

D&D General Belts of Giant Strength?

I am exactly the opposite I couldn't stand the stuff from the 3E era that gave you a +2 or a +4 to strength. I think that 8 Strength Rogue grabbing that belt of Giant Strength is what the fun is all about. Unlike Zadnar though, as DM I don't let my PC pick magic items. I only let them buy...

Purple Dragon Knight Retooled as Banneret in D&D's Heroes of Faerun Book

With a d10 hit die and how easy combat is in 5E it is not really forced. In 11 years of 5E I think I have only played 2 fighters with higher than a 13 Constitution at 1st level and one of them rolled really well and had 4 abilities above 14 before adding racial bonuses. I have never had a...

Purple Dragon Knight Retooled as Banneret in D&D's Heroes of Faerun Book

Agree. And this is a huge problem when writing a book that is supposed to specifically be about the setting.

Purple Dragon Knight Retooled as Banneret in D&D's Heroes of Faerun Book

GWM does not do extra damage on attacks made with a bonus action or a reaction. When you hit a creature with a weapon that has the Heavy property as part of the Attack action on your turn, you can cause the weapon to deal extra damage to the target. So neither the 1d4 PAM attack, nor the...

Purple Dragon Knight Retooled as Banneret in D&D's Heroes of Faerun Book

I would agree, assuming that is that lore. Also I just remembered this - but purple is the color of the Cult of The Dragon in Faerun, which is an evil Chromatic Dragon cult, creating yet another disconnect.
