The Background and Feat system has become more complex, so making PCs is harder.
The game is more complex overall, whereas simplicity was one of the keys to success of 5e2014
The Magic Item creation rules break the game, no doubt, so they need to be removed or modified
They nerfed some...
I DMed it. It's more of a mini-setting then a campaign. If played as it is, it's utterly boring. I suggest to be creative and find a plot to use within this setting.
Hi!
Yes, many 3rd party products are trash. But then, I found many 3rd party products that I really, really like. Unfortunately, many of them are for previous editions.
Long ago, in 3.5 times, the Dragon and the Dungeon magazines were written by Paizo, that produced the best ( IMO ) campaigns...
Good for you, it's a good house rule.
Really? The so-called "Christmas Tree" effect was a constant in my games, in every previous edition, but especially when the PCs could craft magic items at low cost and without chances of failure. They evrn theorized their builds keeping into account the...
5e 2014 was able to limit power creep with:
bounded accuracy
ability score cap (soft 20, hard 30) and level cap (20)
max 3 attuned magic items
no rules for crafting magic items
5e 2024 will give rules for crafting items, let's hope that the pre-2014 delirium does not return
Thieves using magic scrolls as a bonus action, at level 3, and such items can be written by party members at low prices
Ability to craft magic items with relative ease
These are the most overpowered for now
Lol it isn't!
It's a huge step back from the 2014.
(Plus, the AD&D1e, D&D3.0 and 3.5 were better)
The illustrations and atmosphere are overall cringe
Tries to remove unbalanced features, adds a ton more
More complex (5e sold so much also because of simplicity)
Unnaturally schematic (every...
Seriously, you can play older versions of the game. They're all beautiful, and the game is overall the same (except for 4e). Also depending on the adventure or setting you want to play.
Against the Cult of the Reptile god? Or any module ftom Anthony Huso? AD&D1e
Dark Sun? AD&D2e
Rappan Athuk...
Sure! They were the same level of iconic in the original Gygaxian lore but now they're different levels of iconic. I think that some are better known nowadays because of 5e using them, for example Mordenkainen, Tasha, Vecna.
Back in 3e times others were used, such as Robilar.
People from 1e...
