vBulleting asking to sync EN World and Facebook accounts?

After syncing said account, it then insists that you join the ENWorld Facebook group. The group requires approval to join, however, which means no accessing D&D boards at the moment. =P

    Do You Read This News?

One of my daily must-reads--as others have mentioned, this site has built up a lot of trust. I've really appreciated the recent addition of boardgaming news, btw (that, D&D news, and general rpg news are what I tend to read).

    Forked Thread: Changeover poll

After having spent months mocking most of the stuff I'd seen leaked on Eric's site, my friend and I were in a gaming store on the launch day. I grabbed a PHB and started leafing through it so I could see how the stuff I'd been leery about had actually turned out so I could show my friend and...

    Die Rolls or Point-Buy

I've been very happy with a card-based method that I first saw on these boards some time back. Take 2 cards of each number from 4-9, shuffle, and deal out two cards per ability score. Allow players to assign the results to their stats as they see fit.

    How will you DDI

Frankly, while I was initially very excited about the DDI, as time passes (and MapTool keeps on getting better!) I'm starting to suspect that my players and I might not want to pay the subscription fee for it. A lot of it will likely depend on how many guest passes the DM gets with his...

What's the best online map alternative till D&D Insider?

Yes, assuming you're using the 1.3b31 (latest version), just have the host go to Edit->Preferences and change the "Movement metric" to ONE_ONE_ONE. The vision is still circular for now, and there aren't square spell templates yet either, but apparently a big update to the vision/light system is...

Q on Fantasygrounds, OpenRPG, DnDi, and other methods of online play

Can't speak for the other programs, but the Connect to Server dialogue in MapTool will list any games that the host has chosen to list publically (an option you can choose when hosting a game), and there is also what looks like a pretty active Looking for Group forum on the rptools.net site.

Q on Fantasygrounds, OpenRPG, DnDi, and other methods of online play

If you go into the Edit->Campaign Properties menu, you can edit sets of token properties (for example, I have a set for PCs and a set for Monsters), and then input these values when you edit tokens (in the Properties tab). You can also add macros to the tokens to automate die rolling for that...

Q on Fantasygrounds, OpenRPG, DnDi, and other methods of online play

I'll delurk long enough to second the vote for MapTool with a VoIP program (my group uses Ventrilo, since I'm the DM and already had it installed for WoW). It's free, system agnostic, well-supported, and has a ton of neat features (with plenty more on the way). Make sure you check out a couple...
