    The Compendium is Live

It seems like they must've spent the majority of their time on data input. It takes about 10 minutes to write a php script that runs a simple search and classifies the results into a few tables. In short: It looks like it's barely past alpha. But still, It's a useful resource.

    The Compendium is Live

I thought this compendium was supposed to be a feature of DDI, which is a pay-for-use service? Eh, maybe I just misread some info on DDI. Regardless of that, they could have done a much better job on this and still not entirely replaced the books.

    The Compendium is Live

Wow. They really didn't try very hard when they designed the interface. It looks like they threw it together in about an hour. It looks like they hired a guy who had absolutely no interest in the actual tool and just wanted his paycheck. Honestly, I've seen better design and usability out of...

Kobold Badger-rider; Level 1 Elite Skirmisher

Shouldn't there be hyphen there? Badger-riding Kobold. Unless the badger is, in fact, riding the kobold. That would be a great encounter.

How to improve Dragonborn Senses Feat?

The sunrods definitely don't make low-light vision useless. I personally don't always wanta shining beacon above me when I'm trying to move stealthily and set up or execute an ambush. Low-light vision makes Low-light situations become a boon for your character, granting him a noticeable...

Only thing I don't like so far: Power Replacement

While we're at it, "leveling up" is a terrible way to model learning. No one advances in such a jagged fashion. Changes are gradual for big and important skills and nowhere near as modular as D&D makes it seem. Learning something new about history may completely change your view on your life...

    Official 4th Ed. Character Sheet

And where is Mad Irishman's 4th Edition stuff? I just see 1st, 2nd, and 3rd on his site at the moment...

    Memorable Phrases uttered by PCs

"What's the DC for crafting a contraceptive?" was uttered when the rogue in the party finally realized that the promiscuous and raucous cleric was doing a bit too much bluffing and diplomacy to the local tavern wenches.

    Favourite Names for Weapons

Here's a weapon I'm working on for a PBP game I'm playing on another forum: My Lawful Evil Cleric of Hextor wields Garn, an intelligent Flail. It's basically your standard flail, except for one horrifying distinction. Instead of a steel spiked ball at the end of a chain, there's a human head...

Lacking a plan of attack (new game system)

You may want to put this thing online in wiki form... That could be a very nice way to get the source material out there as well as keeping it organized without a whole lot of effort.

    Can zombies use exotic weapons?

I would say that only exotic zombies get to use exotic weapons. :p

Lacking a plan of attack (new game system)

Though I'm not a friend of yours (hell, I'm pretty much a newb here), I really enjoy this stuff and I could do a reasonable job of editing and critiquing it given the chance. At worst I can help in organizing it and bringing it a few steps closer to fruition. If you want to talk further about...

Behold the mighty... Tim Ram! (and other stupid names)

Reminds me of the ridiculous Elven name a friend came up with for her Druid in a bordline abysmal campaign I'm playing through currently. The name was really good, reasonable, and original. The lazy DM didn't appreciate her effort and barbarized the name horribly, just called her EW-ATH half the...

[Rant] Do editing/proofreading errors drive you mad, too?

An idea: Perhaps if they didn't have such insanely high production values for these books aside from the actual written content, they could jack up the quality of the writing significantly. I would gladly buy $15 softcover books printed on less extravagant paper stock with fewer illustrations...
