How a role-playing group handles character death is up to each group. There is no right way or wrong way, just your way.

My preference is that a character who has died and is resurrected comes back at the midway point of the level below. If the character was at 1st level lose a point from constitution. Another thought is for the resurrected character to have disadvantage on all rolls for a period of game time...
