I would say no. The domain spells are the bonus spells granted by your domain, however, converting a spell just means that it converts to a spell that is listed as a domain spell, not actually having it take that domain spell slot.

This is what Dark Sun does. Might want to look at the athas.org website (I have not posted enough to be able to post links) They have a book and casting is frowned upon there as it sucks the life out of the land. Also has a few feats in there that might be modified to fit what you are looking for.
