D&D (2024) Weird invisibility loophole saves Hiding but ruins the spell: Lose the Condition's benefits without losing the Condition

No, they dont. The invisibility granted by the spell is a much stronger benefit that the invisibility granted by hiding, in that the magical invisibility is not lost simply on account of making loud noises or 'being found'. Likely because the magical invisibility is actual translucence, as...

D&D (2024) Weird invisibility loophole saves Hiding but ruins the spell: Lose the Condition's benefits without losing the Condition

Also, even back in AD&D we had some DMs rule that the thief's 'Hide in Shadows' ability was a percentile roll to basically vanish, and some DMs that were a lot less permissive with it. It's not like this is something new.

D&D (2024) Weird invisibility loophole saves Hiding but ruins the spell: Lose the Condition's benefits without losing the Condition

That wasnt your argument though. You said the spell and hiding did the same thing, but they dont. And in the sarcophagus (while hidden) you only have the invisible condition due to hiding (behind your 3/4 cover). If that cover is disintegrated (or someone literally just walks over and looks in)...

D&D (2024) Are single class martials still going to be viable in 2024?

Vengeance Paladin 3 [Hunters mark = Hex.] Strength Stat is 17 (same attacking stats). You have a few extra 1st level slots per short rest (but I have a free Divine Smite slot, and an extra 1st level spell slot, so that's a wash). I have a Fighting style and better Lay on Hands. Vengeance...

Ergh. The new rules on 'weapon switching' also allow you to make 3 attacks with 2 scimitars, while holding a shield, and benefiting from both TWF and Dueling. Lets not go there; they're a mess.

No its not. Post it, and we can compare. Point buy. No, its not. Post it, and we can compare. Point buy. Not even close at this level. Post it, and we can compare. Point buy. Possibly, but by this level the campaign is long over and you've done nothing other than be sucky next to...

D&D (2024) Weird invisibility loophole saves Hiding but ruins the spell: Lose the Condition's benefits without losing the Condition

No it doesn't. The invisible condition granted by Hiding has different triggers for the condition ending than the spell does. While invisible (from the spell) you can be 'found' or 'make noise' and you still retain the condition (remain invisible). You can sit there invisibly blasting a...

D&D (2024) Are single class martials still going to be viable in 2024?

You need your Bonus action as a Ranger free to use Hunters Mark, not to punch things. On rounds where you have to switch (or cast) Hunters mark (so every other round) your damage is lower than a single classed Hunter Ranger. Next level you finally get Hunters prey. I get ASI (dual wielder...

D&D (2024) Are single class martials still going to be viable in 2024?

Leaving aside you're delaying access to higher level spells and class features, no it's not. Give me your multiclass build at 3rd, 4th, 5th, 9th, 11th level (the mono-class will be much stronger at these levels). At every other level, the two 'builds' are equal.

D&D (2024) Weird invisibility loophole saves Hiding but ruins the spell: Lose the Condition's benefits without losing the Condition

When you have the Invisible condition, you experience the following effects. Surprise. If you're Invisible when you roll Initiative, you have Advantage on the roll. Concealed. You aren't affected by any effect that requires its target to be seen unless the effect's creator can somehow see you...

D&D (2024) Are single class martials still going to be viable in 2024?

A level 12 build that is significantly weaker than its mono-classed Paladin buddy for most of the preceding 11 levels. At 12th its on par with its mono-classed buddy. Maybe an extra +1 saves for being SAD (and a short rest spammable 1st level slot), vs the Paladin with an extra ASI. The above...

D&D (2024) Weird invisibility loophole saves Hiding but ruins the spell: Lose the Condition's benefits without losing the Condition

Which was the point. They want people who play games where 'I hit the stealth button and vanish! is a thing to have that option. They also wanted to cater to people who are prepared to use common sense. IMO it was deliberately vague. They're trying to cater to two very different playing...

That would be nothing more than an egregious breach of the Oath. Loyalty. Never accept gifts or favors from fiends or those who truck with them. Stay true to your order, your comrades, and your duty.

D&D (2024) Weird invisibility loophole saves Hiding but ruins the spell: Lose the Condition's benefits without losing the Condition

It doesn't. It grants the condition. They're not necessarily the same thing. It was done deliberately IMO to appease the 'Mash the Stealth button' gaming tables coming from BG3 and similar CRPGs.

D&D (2024) Weird invisibility loophole saves Hiding but ruins the spell: Lose the Condition's benefits without losing the Condition

Im not a huge fan of the new Hiding rules (the previous ones worked just fine IMG). Granting the 'invisible condition' is weird, and it doesn't play nice with being invisible (for example, you cant gain the same condition twice so hiding while invisible now no longer does anything, whereas...
