How Many Conventions Did You Attend in the Last 12 Months?

Same as every year (this will be my 10th,): GameHole Con in Madison, WI. It's just the right size. Big enough to attract "names" (Rothfuss, Mercer, Crawford, Perkins, Greenwood, Cook, Rasmussen, the good Gygax, etc), but not so big it's hard to get seats at events, the food truck lines aren't...

D&D General I'm a Fighter, not a Lover: Why the 1e Fighter was so Awesome

"But while the melee bonuses were great, this also had a massive impact on your ability to carry stuff and open doors (and bend bars, but that's neither here nor there)." You forgot lift gates! Lol

What do YOU plan on doing with Daggerheart?

We just wrapped up a 6.5 year 5e campaign last week. Next up: I'll be GMing the Daggerheart Quickstart Adventure to see how the group likes it. While I was reading the DH book, we were in the final weeks of our campaign, and I couldn't help thinking how much more epic/cinematic those final...

Electric Car Ownership - Any Experiences?

Lol, got sucked in by a necrothread. Oh, well, hopefully it'll help someone else.

Electric Car Ownership - Any Experiences?

Also, we looked at the Bolt before buying the Kona. IMO, there's no comparison. The Kona feels like a real car (and has a fully functional infotainment system), while the Bolt felt like a toy, and requires you use Android Auto or Apple Car Play for everything. (At least it did in 2020...) As...

Electric Car Ownership - Any Experiences?

We have a Hyundai Kona EV (and an Ioniq 6 EV, but the Kona sounds like what you're looking for. It's a small hatchback with very respectable range. We love it. Our local power company paid for our home charger (but not the installation - we had a 50 amp circuit run to the garage), and gives us...

D&D General Tucker's Kobolds: worth using in 5e?

There's a 5e Adventurers League adventure that's loosely inspired by Tucker's Kobolds. It's a lot of fun. Might be a worth borrowing some ideas from. https://www.dmsguild.com/m/product/209228

Tips and Tricks to Running a Con Game

I pre-make all my maps on the back of cheap wrapping paper (with convenient square grid on the back). I write the scenario name and scene name on the back (which is actually the front). Slowing down to quickly sketch something on a wet erase playmat is time consuming and it'll probably look...

    Wes Anderson Films, Ranked

Not the OP, but we saw The Phoenician Scheme last night, and loved it. And Cera was great, especially later, towards the end.

WotC Would you buy WotC products produced or enhanced with AI?

So, if they train AI on their archive of text and images they paid writers and artists to create, meaning they won't have to hire those writers or artists again? Hard no.

Jeremy Crawford Also Leaving D&D Team Later This Month

I was lucky enough to play a game DM'd by Crawford. What was funny, is the guy directly across the table (in the Google Photo below), with the mustache, is the Italian gentleman who runs sageadvice.eu, which collects Crawford's Sage Advice tweets. Google Photo

WotC 5E Designer Mike Mearls Talks About The OGL Crisis

This is the solution that fits every business ever, and sadly not enough understand this simple concept. I retired last year, and I can divide every job I've ever had into two buckets - every company that listened to employee and trusted their expertise were great jobs and strong companies...

RPG Evolution: Clear Gaming Paper Tiles

We were essentially doing that in the late 70's. We'd draw maps on large graph or hex paper, then we bought a large piece of thin plexiglass to put on top. It both held down the map (which had been rolled up, so tended to curl), and allowed us to mark things up.
