D&D 5E Feedback on my Character Sheets

Languages on page 1 is necessary for characters who speak many languages. I just wanted enough space to describe/draw close-ups of the eyes, skin, and hair. Just don't print out the fluff of page 3, and it is 1 front and back sheet of paper. My goal was to create a character sheet with a...

D&D 5E Feedback on my Character Sheets

Chargen Sheet with PHB page references So, with this sheet I give my take on the vanilla but more complex D&D 5e charsheet. It is my third major iteration of such a charsheet with PHB references. I made it so a player can go from top to bottom creating their character, and copying stuff...

D&D 5E Feedback on my Character Sheets

Companion Character Sheet Basically I wanted to keep a lot of 5e's complexity but trimmed down to its core. I also wanted to use only a few words for the DM to help players with chargen and spellcasting and stuff as well as having the player write as little as possible (I am particularly...

    Where's the American Fantasy RPG?

When I think of American Fantasy I think of Christian Apocalyptic literature ('Left Behind' as well as "non-fiction" like '88 Reasons Why the Rapture Will be in 1988' [the year I was born]). I think of the Spiritualism Movement and the "study" of ESP. I think of Area 51 mythology and media. I...

D&D 5E How can you add more depth and complexity to skill checks?

I just want to make use of a greater variety of dice to achieve goals with the ability checks. For example sleight of hand could have a table of options and outcomes with various formulae for stats plus dice to unite the two. In other words, ability checks should be more detailed like spells or...

OSR OSR, Ascending AC or no?

What if it were reframed to reduce Physical Vulnerability (PV)? As someone earlier pointed out, all one would need to determine enemy PV would be to ask the Referee what the monster's armor is or what the monster's hide is equivalent to. After that it's a tense roll of the d20. I don't know...

OSR OSR, Ascending AC or no?

I am for descending AC if it were to get renamed something like Physical Vulnerability (PV for short?). That stat getting smaller and being better would make a lot more sense, AND I could then get that sweet sweet D20 crescendo/upset you speak of!

    Level Up (A5E) Improving spells

Perhaps a really simple change would be best. The big list of spell names sorted by class and alphabetically at the beginning of the Spells chapter- just put '(abbrev. School of magic)' next to each spell. That way nothing much changes for normal findability of spells, and I can make my...

    Level Up (A5E) Improving spells

Yes, but I would like to search them under their different schools like for example picking Evocation spells for an Eldritch Knight. There's not much point in there being different schools of magic if it has no bearing on at least how the alphabetized spell descriptions are further organized...

Level Up (A5E) Some ideas to get the creative juices flowing (that are not our own)

First, 'Advanced Darkness': https://knightattheopera.blogspot.com/2019/09/lets-do-some-more-diy-d-and-hack-rules.html?m=1 Lastly for now, some short videos from Professor Dungeon Master: Comments on ideas presented are welcome so long as it doesn't go into "but here's how I would do...

    Level Up (A5E) Improving spells

@Morrus , instead of simply alphabetizing the spells, organize them under their schools (Evocation, etc), mention in the description what Classes they are available to, have the long lists of available spells organized by level and alphabetized in the individual class sections for which the...

Level Up (A5E) The Advanced Fighter

Well, the effect should accomplish two things: avoid knock-out/sleep spells and be on a variable timer that mimics exhaustion (you don't know exactly when your body will give out/ succumb to the sleep spell, but you have a general idea). I may like rolling dice too much for my own good!
