D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

My home games (we reverted to 3.5e because I have all the toys and like the way we play it…) are definitely player-influenced, in a heavy way. If they get bored or go off on a plot tangent, off we go. But my world is mine, and I don’t reshape it “for the story”. And yeah, I’m currently in a DW...

eBook Prices - Is it just me…

One way that libraries work is to join into consortia. My library is in one. If WE buy an ebook, our local patrons can always see it and put a hold on it. But if anothier member library owns it, we can only see and borrow it WHEN IT IS AVAILABLE. Otherwise, it is invisible. So look again! I bet...

Retired librarian - talk to your library. Email suggestions of titles, authors, etc… that you want to read. They WANT to hear from you.

D&D 5E Why Do Higher Levels Get Less Play?

Exactly. By about 9th level things are hard, and by 12th it is fairly crazy. I just won’t go higher. But also, I prefer stories that are less about the abilities and powers of the Pcs and monsters, and more about the characters and situations and choices.

Trying to find a specific adventure

I am on mac. I have searched pretty carefully, but I just can’t locate it. I am beginning to wonder if I just read it online somewhere! Thank you! this worked. The adventure I was looking for is "Gateway to a Savage Land". I appreciate the help!

Trying to find a specific adventure

A few months ago, I was reading an adventure from my LARGE stash of pdfs. I'm pretty sure I got it in a humble bundle or similar deal. Now I can't find the adventure again. Does anyone recognize the details below? It was probably 3.5 or similar rules, but with a definite oldschool feel. Maybe...

    How often do you play?

The campaign I GM we play weekly on Sunday afternoons for 3 hours. I just joined a by-discord game that's a Dungeonworld variant set in Neverwinter. We've played one sessiion, but intend weekly 2-2.5 hr sessions on Monday nights.

D&D 5E Setting up a Dungeons and Dragons Club at my Local Library

I am a Librarian and have run several different D&D games there as my job. I strongly recommend the following things: 1) run the current version of the game, OR run something like OSR and advertise that heavily. 2) expect a varying group each week. My rule was that I kept all character sheets...

    Dwarven Funeral for King?

In my world dwarves are genderless, breathed to life by priestly magic after being carved by their parent(s). When they die, their body reverts to stone. This stone is used to build funerary walls in dwarven cities, which commemorate the dead.

D&D 3E/3.5 Help with an Elven Kingdom in my Homebrew

They are here on this plane primarily as food providers for their feywild brethren, in fact. They hunt, farm and gather here, but treat the land as a market garden, really. While the outer borders of the realm LOOK wild, over centuries every tree, plant or animal has been shaped to their will...

D&D 3E/3.5 Help with an Elven Kingdom in my Homebrew

I love the idea of the party being guided away from something - I am envisioning the PCs as one small exploratory unit ranging out from the main Expedition, so if they realize the NPC is steering the larger group away from something, they will easily make a beeline for it. My group are pretty...

D&D 3E/3.5 Help with an Elven Kingdom in my Homebrew

Thanks, yes, these are all things I do need to think about. But I LOVE worldbuilding! My campaign world is over 35 years old (maybe 25 in the current format) and I have run at least 10 separate campaigns in it. So any worlbuilding I do, for myself, will see future use in many games. That...

In Boston at that time it was “illegal” to feed lobster to your servants more than twice a week, as it was considered so substandard.
