Is this what it feels like to be a forever GM?

I love my online games, and I love new players who were non-players. One summer I must have taught 20+ people how to play Fiasco. Just like anything you want to do with others, imagine: what do they want out of the game? What you want to give them? When I was teaching Fiasco, they didn't...

I surveyed 200+ TTRPG players on what they wanted from a game. Here's what it taught me about campaign longevity.

RPGs are different than that because they require specific people to show up repeatedly. Nobody's going to be mad if Isaac and Sarah miss a museum trip or don't make it to the club. But if they miss a gaming session ya might be down your main fighter and cleric.

Why do so many campaigns never finish? Genuinely curious what others think

63% is an extremely high completion rate, considering most campaigns start "we're going to hang out in this configuration for 4 hours a week in perpetuity".

One of our rotating GMs ran a highly involved session and wrote up an incident report. Reformatting it would be a waste of time so I'm simply going to link to the PDF. I hope if you're reading this in a decade the link still works! Enjoy!

What's the hardest attribute to effectively role-play?

I originally took this thread to mean attribute as in trait, and #1 is shyness. In any game where you can't see the other players, it's identical to AFK. Physical discomfort is something that's difficult unless you're in person and can nudge the other players, mumble but still be understood...

Saviors of the Lunatic Line Black fever and grisly death were the cost of the Kenyan rail. Who would pay it? A cool June evening in Manhattan. You ever been sick, but you have the adrenaline to run a four hour game... And afterwards saying a few sentences becomes an issue? Just me? It's the least nerdy reference but it reminds me of Jordan's flu game.
