Shuriken as a Melee weapon and Retrieving thrown weapons

Look at the illustration of the shuriken in the PHB. There is no way you could use that as a melee weapon without impaling your own hand or slicing off a finger.

    Half-elves and +2 CON

3rd and 4th edition, the Half-elf is an afterthought.

    Half-elves and +2 CON

Yeah Half-elves seem like the last race the designers worked on. +2 WIS and +2 CON was all that was left :erm:

    Half-elves and +2 CON

Props to people for using real world genetics to support their arguments but I think that misses the point. Half-elves are slighter that humans and have no bonuses vs. disease (like Dwarves vs. poison). The +2 CON bonus really only makes sense as a game balance choice by the designers. The...

    Half-elves and +2 CON

The fluff suggests that Half-elves are survivors because the are socially adaptive not because they are tough.

    Half-elves and +2 CON

Well that supports my point. The bonuses assigned to the Half-elf are based on some abstract notion of game balance rather than the "fluff" aspects of the race. Based on their background, there is no reason wy Half-elves should be as hardy as Dwarves. It seems all the other bonus "combos"...

    Half-elves and +2 CON

I know this is rather subjective, but does it strike anyone as odd the Half-elf gets a +2 bonus to Constitution? Neither race in the Half-elves' "gene pool" have high constitutions as a trait (well, 1 in 6 Humans would) yet the Half-elves, as a racial group, have constitutions on par with the...

    Multi-classing: thrill me

Ah...it all becomes clear now :)

    Multi-classing: thrill me

I thought 4e multi-classing let you take only cross class feats not exploits.

    Multi-classing: thrill me

Eyebite took advantage of the Paladin's high CHA and seemed useful in combat. It would be a good match with a high CHA rogue through.

Feeling short changed by 4th Ed.

People would really rather play a Warlord (whose all about aiding other) than a Barbarian (whose all about hacking things to bits)? Come on!

    Multi-classing: thrill me

4e multi-classing rules are rather restrictive and I have been struggling to think of class combos that are actually worth giving up a standard feat. I came up with a Half-elf Paladin (high CHA) who uses the Warlock's Eyebite (a nod to his fey ancestors). Any other interesting and useful...

Feeling short changed by 4th Ed.

The 1e Barbarian was, mechanically speaking, junk. However, he idea of a Barbarian is stable of both history (Vikings, etc.) and fantasy (Conan). Again I have no polling data but my experience was that Barbarians were a much played class in 3e and that they will be back. Revised mechanics will...

Feeling short changed by 4th Ed.

Of course I did not conduct an extensive poll. But I have been playing D&D since the "blue box" edition and have gamed with many groups. Gamers like the Barbarian class... a lot. I wager that years from now when WotC does come out with the 4th ed Barbarian, it will be much more popular the...
