Immoralkickass has the right of it. Undying Warlock's abilities are all next to useless. Aside from that, their expanded spell list doesn't compare well with other patrons. I'm surprised this one isn't ranked higher in the underpowered classes poll. Perhaps because it's in SCAG fewer people have...
I'm one of those odd gamers who enjoys D&D but hasn't read a whole lot of fantasy. So my list of influences is gonna sound kinda weird:
Tolkien (duh)
The Brothers Grimm
Lewis Carrol
Stephen R. Donaldson
China Mieville
Jim Butcher
This is spot-on, and I think it's a matter of knowing the difference between inter-party tension v. inter-party conflict. A little dramatic tension can make things interesting; but open conflict will completely de-rail a game session. My last gaming group was great at generating and dealing with...
I feel bad for anyone who pays full price for this book. It'll be marked down at B&N. And if you have a members' card there, you get something like 15% (or is it 20%?) off hardcovers. That stacks with the 20% off coupons they e-mail me on a regular basis.

Spell slots, access to level-appropriate spells, invocations, short rests per day, etc. aren't the only issues for a Warlock. They lack one important thing that other full casters take for granted: flexibility. Most full casters can choose what level of spell slot to use when casting; warlocks...
Sadly, the bond with the weapon is broken if the Warlock dies. Resurrection is over-priced, though. I keep my friendly local vengeance paladin paid up in advance for on the spot revivification. He also covers revivification for innocent bystanders killed by errant eldritch blasts, area spells...
IMHO, the BladeLock isn't meant to be on the front lines, and all this talk about multiclassing into fighter is just trying to turn the BladeLock into something it isn't supposed to be. With light armor and a high Charisma, BladeLocks can get a lot more synergy out of multiclassing into Rogue...
