Western style is you turn the pages from right to left. Japanese style is the opposite. Back in the eighties they were printed like that, then I believe, but could be wrong, at the turn of the century, they started to print them like they do in Japan. I find it irritating.
I remember this issue. It might have been the first WD I ever purchased. I used to only be able to find back issues for a while, before I finally found the newer issues.
Alternity was a great system that came out at a bad time. If TSR had released it earlier, it might have found a wider audience. Though it did get a lot of support material, and there were some good articles in the Dragon/Ares magazine. My favorite ones were how to use Alternity in the Traveller...
Even if they do not want to take any responsibility , the pc's reputation could affect all sorts of things. Plots accelerated or put on hold until they leave the area. Priests and champions of the faith are now part of their deity's "A-Team." Artifacts or magic items they own could draw unwanted...
Another thing as pc's become more powerful, they could also become targets of those they thwarted in the past, steal a magic items they have, or the target of npc adventurers.
Not a player of 5th edition, but I have a question.
If a PC gets so powerful in combat and etc, shouldn't the campaign switch to where the pc's are now movers and shakers in the world? Mighty warrior, general of armies or navies? Magic user could be an advisor to the ruler, or ruler themselves...
For some reason, I thought the author of Grognardia.blogspot, was involved with this in a previous edition. I know a game he wrote used the 12 Degree system.
There was also a series of books set in the pre-revolution colonies where magic is used, but only to a few.
