It's cool... I think I like that you've designed a character that has a goal and tries to do something. Though not all wizards are cha 8!
Does he succeed before the Rogue* shows him the error of his ways though? ;-)
But yes it is all quite silly, and not really how actual play is - but it was...
Hey, that part's a bit mean. This is a silly thread, but its also fun. Lots of different challenges - I think the bastion build is cute and I think the Rogue a genius way to counter it!
The main issue is I think our sorc. struggles with realising he can be beaten - though the fun of getting...
That is nonsense. Otherwise people could see through all your spells with an arcana check? (Destroying a few iterations of your sorcerer)... I'm pretty sure this rogue has you :)
@Hohige - I think your issue here is that you are trying to win so hard!
Enjoy the fact that you have come up with a really interesting and powerful build with a lot of very strong combos! But don't shift the goalposts when people work out a way to beat you. I've been following a lot, and...
I mean, he spent years making it - and nobody knows...
So - you are cheating - No infinite loops allowed!
Anyway, my wizard is board. I wish the wish spell out of existence. Now he's quite manageable given enough time! :-D
Dream was what I had come up with a few days ago. I think it would work in an actual play example. You'd just have to 'know the target': spend a few years working that out right! However, given that the sorcerer does not leave his stronghold, just move to two days+ flight from there and get on...
Overall its an incredibly fun idea for a character, and very dangerous. But in an actual situation would be possible to kill - it's a great combination of things! There would be ways round it, they will have ways round them... We should just go, yes that was great - excellent, and move on! We...
He is crazy powerful, but beatable. Just not in a normal battle sense. Don't try and fight him on those terms. Pretty much any elf can defeat him, as can gnomes! Just takes some time ;-)
I think there are plenty of ways of doing it - but in a vacuum, and one vs one via combat, it is super hard. But as a protracted campaign, with a cunning wizard and long enough I can see a way to.
But as straight-up up raw power this build seems pretty beefy!
However, I think this makes...
Hey!
#First Post.
Just read the exploration article. It looks great. I really like The One Ring & Forbidden Lands, so bringing this to exist in D&D sounds fantastic.
Very minor point - I think you should have an "edge case" side ox that states if a critical success/failure is less good/bad...
You are right, but it sort of reminds me of AD&D...all the things you got for having a strength score (a bend bars lift gates check etc.); so it's not needed but it has some thematic weirdness points for me :-)
I recently came across this - I think it might be a bit too god at level 18, maybe I would change it to "-3 incoming damage" or something:
