Funny you should mention that, that's exactly what I did with my 3e campaign I ran 20 years ago. Forge is a great adventure and slotted in perfectly between B2 and the A series.
Price is ok, it sits fine with Heroquest at Target. I played Keep on the Borderlands back in the day (and more recently). I hope it's good. I love me some starter sets. Paizo's beginner boxes were top notch.
Definitely the Keep on the Shadowfell starter adventure. Even if you just use the pregens and maps and monster stats and make your own adventure. 4e is very a different different game, you and your group might as well try it out before spending a bunch of money on it.
I was nostalgic myself...
Yeah I'm on SJG's mailing list. I meant more when I browse around the internet I wish the ads were "This thing is available in our store now!" instead of the constant "Signup to be notified when our new kickstarter starts!"
All the SJG games I've kickstarted have turned out great, actually...
Car Wars 6th is great. Also most of the classic stuff was reprinted a few years back if you wanted to get into the lore.
I love most Steve Jackson games stuff, I'm kind of over Kickstarter though. I wish I got ads when kickstarted stuff was retail available rather then when a kickstarter was...
Whoa boy did not know that. Had to go look that up, because the Greyhwak supplement was before my time.
That entry includes that the Dragon queen is striped and has a wyvern tail, and there's also a weird dig on 'women's lib'.
It's unusual that experienced players would make the newbie be the DM, so yeah, I can see that would be tough.
D&D is getting more unwieldy, true, but it's still the least unwieldy edition so far.
