The thing about changing a character's race in a FANTASY story is that it doesn't come with the baggage of our world, but instead comes with the baggage of the world it is set in.
Since the color of the skin isn't as important in Krynn, these changes can be made as long as they are consistent...
Wishing for a 5E conversion of the original Dragonlance saga with the Curse of Strahd treatment (meaning added content, fleshed out scenarios, goodies, etc).
