Was really hoping the next KP Kickstarter would be Midgard material. Still may back this, I did the other books in the series and I am sure it will be great but it has been a while since there was a new Midgard book.
Agree with most of what you said. As for the OGL your certainty is not proof. Again while I believe the OGL benefited WoTC, there is no way to prove or disprove that. And people on these forums tend to have a bias since they like and rabidly support the OGL so we probably aren’t the best...
Not just TSR but most companies never would have or would do so. As much as everyone likes to say the OGL has been great for WoTC, and I tend to believe that as well, there is no way to prove or disprove that. Most of us are biased in that regard. I can see how many executives think it has...
Sure. But it seems clear to me there is nothing that will happen for you to move beyond that. It is in the past. Steps have been taken to rectify it. Does that mean WoTC is benevolent and can be trusted? Of course not. Does that mean WoTC is evil and out to destroy all RPGs? Of course...
I just find this type of logic to be a way to keep the WoTC grievances rolling. This scenario is highly unlikely but of course not impossible. It just feels exhausting to spend all this mental energy focusing on something that theoretically in the distant future could happen but probably won’t.
Well this forum brought out the usual suspects when it comes to WoTC bitterness. I don’t trust any corporations though I certainly can respect some of their employees.
While I wasn’t a fan of WoTC trying to back out of the OGL I also understand that even having something like an OGL is rare...
Tell me when you buy a car do you happily pay above MSRP? Would you go to Barnes and Nobles and pay 10-20% more than the price listed on the back? Sure they can charge above MSRP but in any imaginable business that is going to turn off customers. Especially when the product is available...
Understood. And like I mentioned I still shop and buy things at my local FLGS but not as much as I have in the past. But as I mentioned too my FLGS sells over MSRP and the price difference is more than 30% most of the time.
Yes. If and when my local hobby store goes out of business it is my fault. I will keep that in mind. Hyperbole aside I still buy from them. Not as much as I did before though. In your righteousness you may not have noticed that they actually charge above MSRP. Yup $65 for any WoTC book not...
Well my local hobby shop now charges $65 for D&D books. So it isn’t really WoTC killing them as much as their own pricing plus Amazon and online places like Miniature Market, Game Nerdz etc who not only sell the books much cheaper but the miniatures too. Plus a lot of small publishers like KP...
Yup. Me too. Love 5E. I played every edition of D&D except 3.0 and many other games such as Rifts, GURPS, TMNT, 7th Seas just to name a couple and I think 5E hits the sweet spot for me and my groups.
What I hear is they see the game differently because they dislike WoTC. If I projected my personal feelings on every business I would have no place to eat or shop. WoTC is far from perfect and they definitely have made their fair share of mistakes but they are not monsters either and many of...
For sure. Truth is I have bought less from my local hobby store as their prices have sky rocketed and more from Amazon and places like Miniature Market and Game Nerdz that offer significant discounts. Not to mention backing things in Kickstarter.
