hmmm. Not being critical, but you've got some misplaced negatives in your work (easy to do when typing math problems on messageboards ;)). Assuming g(x) = x/(x-1) and f(x) = 1/(x+1) Your first line should be: Then g(f(x) = [1/(x+1)]/[1/(x+1) - 1], not "+". You end up fixing it in your next...

This question came up in our last game, one player had been playing it one way the entire time, the DM never questioned, but then a new player joined and he had a different interpretation. If a power has an additional effect that causes variable damage later in the round, would that power gain...

Yeah, it's more of a simple frustration. I know that in the case of the paladin, if the enemy is marked, it ends up okay, and for the barbarian, it often helps him if his enemy shifts (granting him a charge and a Howling Strike)... but it's frustrating when you think you've pinned your opponent...

ugg... and with my luck with rolls, the only time I would crit would be when I hit myself with it! And there would probably be some situational bonus that only triggers in the room if a paladin hits himself with a power and it adds 2d12 <--- yeah, that would be more like my luck. BUT at least...

Would the secondary attacks from the sustained power trigger OAs? I know the original power is a ranged attack (which would trigger one), but the secondary attack is a sustain (minor) power. My gut reaction was that it wouldn't trigger one. Not my choice. Just trying to understand the...
