Exactly. Another thing to do is to ask everyone for a Listen check and no matter what is rolled just say "Oh well." and move on.
Or you can have them hear a faint scream, but with the echo effect it seems to come from more than one direction. Do that a once or twice times over 2-3 sessions...

Agreed. Psionics is just plain ridiculous. It's like multiclassing (2nd Edition) as a Sorceror (3D Edition) while adding full xp to both levels. I don't know anyone that thinks it's a good idea except the munchkins I used to meet at conventions.
