ChatGPT lies then gaslights reporter with fake transcript

No doubt the industry will go through the same type of consolidation every other burgeoning industry goes through, with most of the players disappearing and a small few rising above the rest. There also used to be large booksellers in every moderately large city in America (Borders, Barnes &...

ChatGPT lies then gaslights reporter with fake transcript

I didn't do that. There's a difference between saying that AI will put a lot of human creatives out of work, which I strongly believe, and saying "we should allow the machines to pick up the art and intellectual pursuits." I'm not stating whether I think it's "good" or "right." I'm stating...

ChatGPT lies then gaslights reporter with fake transcript

Very true. I just asked DALL-E to create a photorealistic image of a hand. It got it right (except for the left/right part)! We should throw a parade. I said: Create a photorealistic image of a closeup of a human hand showing the appropriate number of fingers. DALL·E said: Sure, I can generate...

Yup. But you can get more Thinking Mode for the low, low price of $200/month now!

ChatGPT lies then gaslights reporter with fake transcript

Directly below the text box for ChatGPT where it says "Ask anything," it states, "ChatGPT can make mistakes. Check important info." That's there for every query. I see that. To those easily frustrated office drones (your phrasing), I'd offer that I'd love to help them craft better prompts...

ChatGPT lies then gaslights reporter with fake transcript

Good question. My guess? Cost. The basic models are good enough for most queries and uses. When I ask ChatGPT to be careful before responding and to doublecheck its work, it even tells me it's switching over into "Thinking longer" mode. Thinking longer mode requires more cycles to compute...

ChatGPT lies then gaslights reporter with fake transcript

Great points. I wonder if the reporter still uses ChatGPT. That would be interesting, wouldn't it? Based on the cautionary tale he provided, why would he if the tool is prone to such lying? I have a theory...but I don't want to be called out for attacking the reporter. I would bet he's a decent...

ChatGPT lies then gaslights reporter with fake transcript

OK, that made me chuckle. It's sort of relevant though because on a minute-minute basis, how good is the hand drawn by a human compared to the hand drawn by ChatGPT? ChatGPT can iterate its hand many times within that minute, while the human is unlikely to have finished a first draft of their...

ChatGPT lies then gaslights reporter with fake transcript

It doesn't do that very often anymore. Or draw dogs with 5 paws and 2 tails. Another fair question would be, "Can most human artists draw 1,000,000 hands a second, 24/7, 365 days a year?"

ChatGPT lies then gaslights reporter with fake transcript

Earlier on this or another thread about AI, someone had mentioned about how bad ChatGPT was at playing chess and offered it as proof of its failure. I thought that was interesting in that, to my knowledge, no one at OpenAI had claimed that it was good at chess. In fact, it's fairly easy to find...

ChatGPT lies then gaslights reporter with fake transcript

If you ever want to have some fun, spend some time asking ChatGPT questions like... Assuming continued advancements in AI over the next decade, what are 20 careers that should be relatively safe for humans to pursue? From an economic standpoint, is AI a bubble like the dot com bubble was? If...

ChatGPT lies then gaslights reporter with fake transcript

Good point. Some of the folks who've dabbled with AI over the past few years appear to be missing how far it's come in that time. ChatGPT is leaps and bounds better than it was when I first started using it. Like you said with the hands as one common refrain I still hear, but have you asked...

ChatGPT lies then gaslights reporter with fake transcript

Understood and noted. Thank you. I'd said blasé, but blithe is more accurate. I think we agree though. I didn't mean that I was literally immune to marketing, but I don't think I'm more susceptible to it than most. I became a user of ChatGPT after using the product, not before using the product...

ChatGPT lies then gaslights reporter with fake transcript

I seem to be deeply offensive to many people on this subject, which isn't my intention. I think I've reached a point of acceptance and comfort using AI that many people here haven't yet, and so my blasé references are setting people off. I think most will also get to that point though, because...
