For me its largely out of fear of it being forgotten like thousands of other RPG’s and we all go back to playing D&D next year.
Thats hyperbole and also doesn’t really take into account the actual realities of the industry or that a game lives on as long as SOMEONE is playing, but its a feeling...
Ill admit as someone who is on that train I’ll admit im wrong things seem to progressing pretty ok. Books seems like it will address alot of issues and the oneshots the sponsored seem to have been received rather well (I am unaware if any have blossomed to a full campaign but thats just a...
And thats the sound of any hype for Daggerheart utterly plummeting.
Which is a shame I really liked it as a game and CR basically abandoning it sucks. (Yes there are the side campaigns but those are considered second fiddle dont hold nearly as much care).
I just couldnt get into it for a couple of reasons. For me the biggest one is Im not really a fan of the chatter that comes with playing a game (the snickers, the jokes, and other stuff Im fine with my own groups but mostly because im a part of that chatter) Like if it was just a radio play or...
Which is both great and kind of worrying. Great in that thats a crap ton of people and its always good to see more people. Worrying In the sense that what little success there is built on something kind of fragile... I guess it only serves to show how tiny this industry kind of is.
Love it so far! Only real disappointment is that its yet ANOTHER Charisma based class.
Also I do find the idea of people being so prickly about someone giving orders kind of funny, like yes sometimes people just will take the lead hell some people even train for it.
Welp, off to find an old shoe and some bread batter. Though Ill be happy to eat it.
Now another question habe they ever played anything on stream on the bigger side (Vampire, Shadowrun, etc) and not one page stuff?
It most likely is not. This industry isnt the kind where you really bounce back unless your radically change things. I also think 5e success has full on ushered the Disney effect wherein various other competitors might as well not exists just due to the massive scale D&D inhabits. Add the lack...
Its certaintly bringing new people but I think the statement is a little suspect.
Its not bringing new people to the HOBBY wherein they explore and try things that it has to offer both in the inde space and some older contenders (Shadowrun Warhammer, etc)
Its bringing new people to D&D and...
Good to see Savage Worlds is doing alright.
Always a pity to see how bad the rest of the industry is doing though. Despite a new edition those Warhammer numbers are just depressing.
I mean technically its good for the hobby but like in all things its for the most part a zero sum game. And players, especially D&D players are unlikely to move to different systems and by different games. Ergo the only thing that really the sales of D&D improves is D&D
Its alot like Disney and...
This article feels like its ignoring several things: Evil Hat and John Cook Presents having massive layoffs, White Wolf controversy, and others just to go the usual “D&D did good so that means nothing else really matters”
I get it, its the 10 ton gorilla but its not EVERYTHING in this industry
So far I've really been enjoying the system. Though I think it will be on the back burner after this (very short) campaign is done.
I feel that due to the games lack of laser focus it can be a bit difficult to really run campaigns beyond the D&D style "rag tag of mismatched idiots". When...
