So, I think I get what you're saying. However looking at the adventure I've written, each "zoom-in" is such a small part that bringing in a 1 hour timer would be superfluous for these small landmark sites. Also it begs the question that if you chart hex space for say two hours, then zoom in, and...
Flux Space isn't sci-fi, rather it's a way to handle exploration of a large dungeon in a simplified way. I think it's pretty great and works with most ttrpgs, just not with one who uses real time mechanics. Check it out.
My problem with the torch timer is simply that you have to keep it in mind when writing scenarios. I recently had an idea for a scenario after reading the most recent Knock! and the article about Flux Space. But the mechanic of Flux Space doesn't work with real time torches so I had to write...
So we're clear, Silksong having lots of bugs is a joke because the game is about literal bugs. It's great and the other ongoing rumor about it being "too hard" is also not true. And that's coming from someone who's bad at most games.
To me this sounds fine. I don't see any problems in players describing their character's actions, feelings and background (withing the bounds of the game world). However I don't see any problem with an NPC asking a PC about their sword either. If the sword has no "story" the PC could just be...
The latest release from Plots & Plans is here and it’s PWYW. It’s a low-level scenario for Old School Essentials but can easily be converted to any fantasy game. Check it out today.
Something Rotten in Mosshill
I have two problems with this as an idea.
1. The die doesn't really add anything. It only forces the players or the GM to make something up, What is an opportunity or a complication? You have to make it up on the spot. This would effectively stop me from using the die at all.
2. This goes to a...
That' s interesting. Do you house rule a lot? If she's seen you twist and bend the rules a couple of times she might think that's just the way every game should be played, or she might be inspired by some other source (youtube?). New GMs house ruling out the gate seems a bit unusual, to me at least.
I basically agree with everyone so far. It's quite the tightrope to walk.
On the one hand talking to her would seem to be the answer since everyone should be having fun at the table and basic knowledge about how rules are to be interpreted might be part of the fun for people.
On the other, a...
Thanks for the recommendations. If I get the time I might check some of them out. A while ago I listened to Eleven Foot Pole, sadly not releasing anything anymore, and they were pretty great. Listened to them at the gym and people must have thought me a crazy person as I was trying to hold back...
When I do listen to live plays I usually get bored pretty quickly unless the group playing is very funny. As far as rules go I think most live plays don't use the rules enough, spending most of their time roleplaying, to get a feel for a system. At the same time this brings to mind all the times...
