Natural Attacks- Bite and Headbutt in the same round?

See? Common sense dictates that you shouldn't be able to attack with a claw in the same hand you're holding a weapon, as do plenty of creatures' description. But there aren't any hard rule on the subject to fend off rules lawyers!

What style of science-fiction in your D&D ?

You forgot a fifth genre, Cyberpunk, which is pretty much what you see in Blade Runner. Personally, I think that these genres work better with other systems, or even more importantly, other premises. Magic and advanced technology ten to interact in weird ways =P However, from the ones...

    Marionnen's Musings: Featless?

Just to put things in perspective: to be able to cast as many spells as a sorcerer, a wizard have to forgo three spell schools. Evocation and Enchantment are pretty much a given, as KaiiLurker put, so you'll only have to think hard on the third school. Will it be Necromancy? Will it be...

    Marionnen's Musings: Featless?

Indeed, it really doesn't. I just wanted to point out that without the ability to take feats, the gap between wizards and sorcerers could broaden even more. And sorcerers already are a little boring! The poor things have 19 dead levels! Admittedly, they have spells, but so do the cleric, the...

    Marionnen's Musings: Featless?

For what it's worth, wizards are widely regarded as much more powerful than sorcerers, for the simple reason that they can learn every spell in the book, and thus have the best spell for any given situation, while sorcerers must make some very difficult choices, and mostly must choose some...

Natural Attacks- Bite and Headbutt in the same round?

I can't, actually. It's just something that happened at a game I was playing once. A fellow player told our DM his full attack routine, and things just derailed from there. It didn't make any sense for him to be able to do that, but we weren't able to turn up evidence he COULDN'T do that. The DM...

    Marionnen's Musings: Featless?

Hmmm, intriguing idea! Personally, I think it would work out pretty well, specially for teaching people how to play the game. All the complexity can come later, when people are more comfortable with the basic mechanics of the game. I don't think, however, that limiting the fighter's options to...

Natural Attacks- Bite and Headbutt in the same round?

I find it very hard to wrap my head around something like "two attacks with my main hand, one with my off hand and one with each of my claws". I mean, come on! How are you going to attack with both your claws without letting your weapons fall to the ground?!? It apparently is possible, though.

    Semi-Vancian Divine Magic

Well, Pathfinder does have "free" orisons, but you still have to spend higher level spells. It also has channeling instead of turning, but it works a bit differently.

    First Impressions?

To me, the systems seems like a healthy blend of all the previous editions. It feels as simple as OD&D, as robust as AD&D2E and, when necessary, as complex as D&D3E. That is an auto-win in my book. They took a step back, an in doing so, took four steps forward. This DEFINITELY feels like D&D to...

[D&D3.X] Animal's Racial Bonus to Listen and Spot

Hello there, guys! I've been working in a simple advancement of a Leopard into a Warbeast Leopard and stumbled upon this at the animal statistics block in both SRD and Monster Manual: With this description in the Combat block: Breaking down the skills into bonuses, modifiers and ranks, and...
