So I want to have an "ancient language" in my upcoming game that players can gradually learn. It's a dead language, so I am not going to allow them to choose it as a bonus language or drop a single skill point into it and gain total mastery of it.
Also, since nobody alive understands it, it...
D'oh! I did indeed miss that. But now that you point it out, yeah, that explains a lot! :p
Yep. Given equal investment, most PCs are going to come out with roughly equal defenses, unless their class is particularly defense-oriented. If one PC puts a lot more of their resources into defense...
I don't disagree that it's a strong debuff, it just has nothing to do with defenselessness. Sorry if you feel that's a nitpick. :)
Mmm. I think part of this may have to do with the nature of the campaign. In our games, we rarely face one or two powerful foes. We usually face 8-10 "fairly...
The anti-paladin's armor and shield appear only slightly enchanted, whereas the ninja has purchased +7 bracers of armor, an item worth 49,000gp. If the anti-paladin were to invest as much in his own AC, it would be on par with the ninja's.
My current PC is a dex-based magus, and as far as I...
I am a Pathfinder RPG fan. Our group ran a 2-year 3.5 campaign, then played around with several different systems--Savage Worlds, Mutants and Masterminds, etc.--before coming to Pathfinder for hopefully another long campaign. There's just something engaging about the depth of the system. :)
Casters can already do enough as it is, without them being able to cast spells and get whatever feats they'd like as well. It's one of the reasons spells like Transformation and Polymorph were nerfed so hard. To prevent the wizard from being able to turn into a fighter on command.
I just...
I have to second the idea that paradox42 gave pretty solid advice. If you aren't particularly attached to any of the various backstories you've written up, I'd take paradox42's advice. Though if you are partial to one of the concepts over the others, go with that one. The game is always...
Heh, it's a fun idea, but I'm not sure it goes with the atmosphere I'm shooting for. :p
Something that was recently brought up was the idea that, in ship-to-ship combat, being able to fire on your enemy first and from range is a big advantage. I'm now considering some kind of wondrous item...
I strongly agree. Along with that I highly recommend any (non-archtyped) magus work towards Spell Perfection for use with Quicken Spell. I went with Intensify, Empower, and Quicken, though you could replace Empower with something else if you prefer, such as Maximize.
Dazing is definitely...
It's looking like my goal for my weapon is going to look something like this:
Via arcane pool:
Enhancement (+3)
Bane (+1)
Keen (+1)
On the weapon:
Enhancement (+2)
Spell Storing (+1)
With the last +2 on the weapon being either Dispelling Burst or Holy. I'd love to hear folks' thoughts...
I sort of get the feeling that fleeing airships only to wind up on another plane may be a bit of a frying pan-->fire scenario. ;P
So far, it seems like this is what I'm looking at:
DEFENSE
Our ship is small and, hopefully, can be faster and more maneuverable than most other ships she meets...
This sounds like a solid strategy to plan around to me. There's an off chance that our ship may wind up more magically/technologically advanced than our enemies', giving us an advantage even against ships somewhat larger than us, but even if that were to become true (and there's no guarantee it...
Well that was part of my problem. I hadn't really gotten my toys yet. No Spell Combat, no spellstrike...
Now that we're level 4, that's starting to change. Got to use both last combat, had my first taste of magus nova.
It was delicious.
RUMBLETiGER
I definitely agree with having a good offense. On top of the lightning cannons, I'm thinking some kind of Disintegrate weapon may be essential. If we can use Wall of Force so can our enemies.
Unfortunately, I'm not sure merely carrying a Big Stick will be enough for us. We've...
hehe, appreciate it! :) I don't look down on folks who enjoy 4e. There's no wrong way to enjoy Roleplaying games. I just couldn't get into it myself. ;)
So, looking at magus armor options, originally I'd planned on going with a mithril chain shirt, but doing the numbers it looks like a...
