    Warhammer with Grim Tales

Wulf has said that caster level for effect should either be the character's actual character level, or the level of the spell itself, whichever is higher. Or at least that is his preference; as with most things in Grim Tales, you're free to make it whatever you want. So the in the example...

    [GRIM TALES] A few questions...

I'm interested, Wulf, on your thoughts on linking the Massive Damage DC to the damage dealt (10 + 1/2 damage dealt, or similiar). While I'm not looking to make things any more deadly for my players, I'm curious why this popular house rule wasn't even a variant in Grim Tales.

    [GRIM TALES] A few questions...

Well, I can certainly see that. I'd just hate to see a player spend an action point to confirm a critical and not even force a Massive Damage save on some heavily armored brute. Maybe the best solution is to resolve the conversion first, but have criticals ignore damage conversion from armor.

    [GRIM TALES] A few questions...

A new question So here's a quick question: Should the damage conversion from armor occur before or after you check for Massive Damage? I'm inclined to think the latter, otherwise armor might be too good. As always, I gotta say I'm loving this book. It feels like a collection of all the house...

    [GRIM TALES] A few questions...

Thanks for the quick replies! (To clarify, as I don't know 3.5 like I know d20 Modern: Burst Fire can be used multiple times as part of a full-attack, provided high enough BAB?) As for spell burn, that's roughly what I figured; I guess I don't plan on characters getting their spell burn...

    [GRIM TALES] A few questions...

Just got the book yesterday and I'm still absorbing it, but I thought I'd throw out a few of my initial questions: I really like the firearms section, which I understand is similiar to Spycraft, which I've looked at but don't own. I do have a few questions, however. > There are two different...

Grim Tales: SLAVELORDS of CYDONIA - Advance Copy: Taking Q&A!

This is exactly what I was thinking! Your plan for assigning stats sounds both simple and fair, and should alleviate any protracted discussions during character creation. Thanks! Oh, I certainly have a Charismatic and a Dedicated, but I do think there will be an inevitable bias towards the...

Grim Tales: SLAVELORDS of CYDONIA - Advance Copy: Taking Q&A!

I've just ordered a copy of both Grim Tales and SoC, as they look to be exactly what I've been looking for; I'm a fan of d20 Modern, but there were a few areas, notably magic, that I wanted to tweak. Looks like the work's been done for me! Anyway, as I eagerly await my new books, I have a quick...

HELP! My gaming group is in trouble!

Another great idea! I'm glad I decided to post my question here, as the replies have been surprisingly quick and insightful. I'll be sure to talk to my DM about this. (in fact, I may try and have a few ideas jotted down for him, I'm brainstorming right now). Thanks!

HELP! My gaming group is in trouble!

I second. That was a good reply. I never thought to roleplay out the treasure dispute, but that is a great idea and I wish I had thought if it at the time. I will be sure in the future to push our group in that direction. And you're seconding what I already told the DM, that he's penalizing...

HELP! My gaming group is in trouble!

Raiders! I love it. And thanks for moving it, I meant to post here anyway. Thanks for your quick replies! As for talking -- yes, that is most often the best way to settle any dispute or conflict. I posted this only after a fairly lengthy discussion with my DM and fellow players about this...

HELP! My gaming group is in trouble!

We have a bit of a dilemma developing in our gaming group; one that may be coming to a head shortly and so I decided to break my silence (I've been lurking these boards for a few months now) to ask for a little bit of advice. Here's the situation (sorry if this is long): I'm a player in a new...

    Urban Arcana:New Orleans Dept.7 (IC)

Micheal likewise rises from the table and proceeds to claim an office (one next door to Austin's). He makes himself comfortable, hanging his suit coat on the back of his chair and laying out the contents of his briefcase on the desk. Unless he is interrupted, he will begin to pore over the...

    -closed-d20 Modern/Urban Arcana(New Orleans Dept.7)

Well, it looks like things have slowed down a bit; I always hate to see that. As far as I'm concerned, I'm a little stuck on what to do next (besides the obligatory settling into an office stuff). Any details on what exactly we find in our briefcases, Jade? I need a few hard facts to work...
